question about lowering springs

Hello,
I am a new member to the forum and new to Alero's as well. I need to replace a rear coil spring on a 99 GL Sedan. I was thinking that this may be a good time to repace all 4 springs with some lowering springs. I have a few questions for those who may have done this.
1. What is a good/affordable set of springs for this? I've seen Eibach..are those good?

2. If I have a shop replace all 4 springs with the Eibach lowering springs, are there any other considerations other than an alignment that will be needed? Any strut issues etc.

3. How much did this cost? It looks like parts may be $250, but how much was labor?

Let me know if you have any before/after pics.

If you have an older car with original struts, you might want to consider replacing them at the time you get them lowered too. I have an 01 with 100k on it and I have my stock struts still.

I would also consider the struts as well. Most places that I have called will charge you $50 a corner for installation of springs. Eibach are alright, but don't provide much of a drop. For a more intense drop, you want to consider Sprint or Intrax. As far as alignment, you should get one after you have the springs put on...you should have one done everytime somebody touches your suspension for that matter.
I'll look and see if I can't dig up and before and after pics with intrax...I only had my car for a week or 2 before I had them put on, so it might be tough...

That car looks great. How much of a drop was that and what springs did you use?

Also, what body kit is that? We are thinking about doing something like that too.

Thanks for the info. This car has low mileage (30K) for a 99. An older woman had it and didn't drive it much. The car is in Virginia now, however, the first 3-4 years were in upstate NY, so there was some corrosion underneath which may have helped cause the broken coil spring.

My car sits as low as doubleN0alero's, but mine are Springtech's. Definitely the best appearance mod for an Alero.

Yeah it does, I was only saying to look at the wheel gap...thats where you can tell a difference.

If the roads are rough around you, I suggest the Eibachs.

PA roads are pretty bad and I bottom out sometimes with the Eibachs, and when the car gets towed, they have to take spiecal care getting onto the flatbed.

HA HA when the fuel pump went, the guy told me it was a hard as a BMW 3 series to get on his bed

Bottom line is that's it's up to you and what look you are going for. I've been very happy with the Eibachs and I plan on putting a set on my Delta when the time comes.

Remember it takes a few weeks for the springs to settle

I have drop zone springs for a malibu on mine (have them on for about a week ) I like em the rides stiffer than stock but not bone crushing. the left is before springs and the right after

but yea i would replace your struts with aftermarkets because its only a matter of time before the lowering springs ruin all of your stock struts.

i got a 2" drop with my dropzone lowering springs but as stated, change out your struts with it cause stock struts with a 2" drop wears them out alot faster

i got mine for under $200can from my buddys shop. he ordered them from this place. i think mine is 1.75 drop al the way around.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the Eibach springs from tirerack.com . I don't want to lower it too much and it sounds like these will give the right amount of drop. I'll try to post pics before/during/after but it will probably be 3-4 weeks before I get around to installing them.
