I've read on here before that there is a defect in the drivers side window that causes it to get scratches up and down the window. I am starting to get this and was wondering if I should be able to do this on my warranty. Was this a factory recall or anything like that? I would search through the forums but I am on my way out and don't have time. If someone could help me out real quick we can lock this up so that it doesn't clutter the forum.

Thanks for your help!!

There wasn't a recall on it, but there was TSB issued on the matter. If your still under warranty the dealer should fix it.

When I bought my Alero, the drivers side window was all scratched up. I took some Turtle Wax compound to the window, and it cleared everything but one really deep scratch. The window now looks like it should.

I could feel the roughness of the window with the back of my hand before I fixed it.

Yes it's a defect. No recall on it though. It has to do with the pully system that the power window uses. I have had my window and motor replaced because of it. I'm told that the cable frayed untill it snaped. They had my car a week and a half on that one.

I have a 2003 Alero, purchased Jully 2003. Last June, I had my windows replaced on warranty due to the TSB. My service rep wasn't able to authorize it, but being the good guy he is, he took me to talk to his shop manager and he authorized it after taking a look himself. Best thing to do is, take it in and see what happens!
