ok i need to replace my speed sensor the shop wants 291 for the part and 55 for the labor. they say it will take an hour to fix it so I figure I can do it in two hours and a lot cheaper . So my question is this where do I pick up the right part and where the hell is it located. I guess I'l just buy a manual for that question but were is a good place to buy a sensor?

GM dealer is most likely the only one that can get it. That was the ONLY place I could get an O2 sensor for my car. Problem is most of the aleros are so new the most shops don't have the parts in the catalog yet.

Speed sensor is in the hub. Replace the hub. Get one from advance auto. But you have to figure out which one it is.

The VSS is in the transmission. The wheel speed sensors are in the hubs obviously. So step #1 is figuring out which one of those needs to be replaced.

OK I know which one it is it's the right front wheel. He showed me what it was doing the wheel was registering 10 to 20 mph in park so I guess I go buy me a hub. Thanks

That's what I was going to say to do, but you've gone and done it already. A couple weeks ago I got a new hub (installed) and oil change for $120.

my hub went out recently too (front left) -- bought the hub from Autozone for 116 US-- 90bux CDN to install.

i think everyone and their uncle has had to change a wheel assembly at least once. GM wanted 500 bux cdn from me (buggers!)

if you're going to do it your self there is a HOW-TO here on this site.
