I need to replace my tranny fluid and was wondering if somebody could give me a quick summary of how and where. My tranny has a whine in reverse that I'm hoping might go away with some new fluid. What type of fluid does the auto tranny use? IS it GM syncromesh or something else?

Only other question is where is the drain plug?

There is no drain plug, you have to drop the pan. Change the filter at the same time. Also use Dex III fluid.

jamcllw is an unknown quantity at this point
Go to the dealer or AAMCO or something like that. They'll suck all the fluid out and put new back in. It's better that just doing the filter and the 3 or 4 quarts that come out when you remove the pan.

100,000 miles, or 50,000 if you abuse it (tow things, drag, drive in D2).
