Yeah it's squeaking because it's slipping. Adding more shit to make it slip without making noise doesn't solve the problem.
I prefer having a belt that grips. If it's noisy, it's time for a new belt (or seized/resistant pulley)

Belt was new. Just chirped. I havent had any issues.

Thanks for all the replies. I planned on using be jack just to support the engine weight. May even put a piece of rubber on top of the board as a cushion. Unless someone has a better suggestion.

You'll be fine dude, just use a block that actually spans the width of the pan. Don't use a 4"x4" block you know?, a 4x4 or 2x4 is fine, just cut a piece long enough to displace pressure on the pan evenly and not just in one little spot on it is my advise

thanks man. I planned on using this 2x6 I got lay around and cutting it down to a little longer then the pan itself.

I replaced my tenstioner but never my idle pulley, car has 147,8xx on it. Should I just do it now?

I wouldnt until they go bad. My car has 142,000 on it and I have one bad idler so while I got my car apart to change the belt, tensioner, and alternator I am also changing both idlers. I will be saving the good idler though cuz you never know when you might need it.
