My subframe is cracked!

So i was getting my cracked sway bar replaced and I was informed and shown that the sub-frame is cracked to the point that if they drop it, it'd fall apart completely . New sub-frame and labor would be more than car is worth so my Father made the decision to sell it. Im a little sad, but I'm going to look at a E90 Bmw Thursday, so if I get that I can do donuts
As soon as we get replacement car, the alero gets listed on cl..... if you want it i can post a link to ad when it goes up. Ill still post in off topic on here, or you can follow me along on this shitshow on instagram logandahlke and my facebook of the same name. Im gonna miss the stupid torque

The question is how did you crack your sway bar and front subframe exactly? Crash?

^^ He is a young, he isn't talking about street racing or drinking and driving, his business.

To be honest most "33%" owners of a business i know wouldn't take shots at it's clientele. Hey from the 1-4 posts the site gets a day you must be doing something right(how many unique visitors do you get a day <100?)... It's this type of attitude that has been part of the reason for the sites decline.

LMAO, Why don't we shut the site down now and nobody will have access to Alero info at all. He probably stated the truth based on the guys screen name and the fact the original Thread Title had to be changed because it was in violation of our standards for the site. I should have suspended him for cussing originally or just deleted the thread in the first place.

Explain why you think BMW drivers drive like a "douchebag"

If you want a place to store knowledge whip up a Google shit... They are free.

Sorry for venting I know I'm not the most drive poster but I have been around a long time and have seen some of the toxic attitudes over run this site. A bunch of years ago I think we even had really long post on it. Site was a great resource for me helped me clear my corners, go full on CAI and diagnose numerous issues. I still miss the Naich's and silentalero of years ago.

Your guys site do as you want, thanks for having me since before 2003.

I don't think that traffic is low due to deleterious comments. It's that the 1999's are just around the corner of 20 years. At that point survival rate for most vehicles are around 10%. Less people are still driving these and the younger crowd is now into imports or farm country kids are into trucks.

I still see several a day. But I live in the area where these cars were built.
I am still preserving mine as piece of history. My car only just turned 9K on the clock. Even my 70 Supreme has just a fuzz over 70K.

You can even see the shift of the major automotive players going away from sedans and shifting production to SUV and Trucks of any size. The family car might just go the way of the dinosaur? Heck my wife and I both have newer Silverados for our dailies.

The forums still have knowledge and are a database you can search. You're saying they should delete the forums and recompile everything ever discussed onto another site?

It's a well-known stereotype. If I drive in the "rich" part of the city I experience a significant uptick in drivers that behave as if they are the most important person on the road, always without turn signals and weaving narrowly between traffic. BMWs are just the starter level to this behavior. It's a mindset. Being in a high cost vehicle inflates egos for a good number of people.

It's not a business. It's a website they pay a small fee for existing. No one is depending on ad revenue from Aleromod.com to put food on the table. You know as well as everyone else there's not much going on here. There is no risk involved in anyone being candid.

J-Body.org has also been incredibly quiet in the last few years. They're just declining in popularity. It happens to all cars not deemed anything special by the car community. Nothing in particular triggered any massive user flight from the site. We've talked about pretty much everything and anything anyone has wanted to modify on the car over the years. The site served its purpose and continues to do so. It contains many searchable answers, and I expect any newbies have done just that.

^^^ for it not being a "Business" Naich must of donated it to three people out of the goodness of his heart, i was always under the impression money exchanged hands in the transfer of ownership.

Are we really going to go with stereotypes exist for a reason logic?

I am apart of a few other automotive forums and they never had the feel this site did in it's prime. The off topic pages use to have just as much if not more action than every other page on the site. I do believe the advent of social media did a number on most forum based platforms everyone just hashtags things and puts it on the socials.

It just makes more sense for people to use social media rather than this site. Almost everyone has a facebook and there is a facebook group for almost everything. I'm not advocating for the use of facebook or advocating against this site, but for most people it seems more convenient.

If I buy physical/intellectual property from someone, does that automatically make that physical/intellectual property a business itself? Seems strange you are able to classify it as such solely because it was sold.

I provided my testimony; you have yet to provide yours. Tell me about your countless experiences with drivers of higher cost vehicles driving equal to or more politely than the general populace. Get out of Canton and go drive in Troy, specifically around the area surrounding Somerset Mall. Take note of the behavior of those in higher cost vehicles. Either you've been oblivious your entire life, or just want to be a contrarian, but post this on any other car forum and you'll find the same response.

You're right, they were much more active, and even still are. It's a platform problem. The following are a couple still very active ones that I have perused over the years:
  • CobaltSS.net
  • RS25.com
The main thing is that the more popular forums are focused on an entire brand, not just a single model. See Honda-Tech, NASIOC, VW Vortex, etc.

My profile is forever old. I haven't lived in Canton since 08, I live in w. Bloomfield now and actually work in Troy. So I see and drive around plenty of people that range the socio economic scale.. Id much rather park between a navigator and a BMW than any W body and charger.
that's asking for door dings. For what it's worth you provided an opinion not evidence. Fact when I moved out of Wayne county to Oakland my auto insurance dropped significantly, mostly due to Detroit and it's High car theft but also because statistically Oakland County and their higher-priced vehicles are better drivers. Are you going to post bmw driver memes next? I doubt any e90/92/93 forum would agree.

No it makes it an asset. Unless this is a straight hobby than good for them. Lord knows I drop a rediculous amount on a new Softball bat at least twice a year.

Agreed 100%. On more popular forums focusing on brands. They also have much more dedicated cult following. I have a buddy that will drive across the nation for decent Datsun pickup truck.

^^^ +1 for the above comment. That, and as much as I like my Alero, it's a 4 door sedan, which makes it absolutely nothing special. You can stil buy new 4 door sedans today. At least with my other car, a Ford Escort, people will actually tend to hang onto the ones that are left, often because of things like good gas mileage (even by today's standards), and the fact that Escorts were available as hatchbacks and wagons, etc that they don't seem to make much of today (today's "hatchbacks" are really small station wagons; they don't even come in 2 door options and the back doesn't gently slope down). in that respect the only thing Aleros have going for them is that you can get an 2 door Alero (for some reason automakers think all cars have to have 4 doors now, to make the cars more ugly).
