I took the car to Autozone and they told me it was and I quote "Running rich in cylinder bank number 1."
Has anyone ever heard of this problem before? They told me it could be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold aka bad lower intake manifold gasket.

LOL...no lie i just went into checker to have my car scanned...threw out code 172...running rich, but it never said anything about the o2 sensor..i was just running a search when i cam across your post...

on tues i just put my SLP cat back on, and thought that maybe this was why i threw an SES last night , i had them reset it, and no ill wait to see if it comes on again, but about 2 years ago, when everybody was doing the IAT mod..i fell into that lil bs, and cut my wires and extended the sensor, although i did put it back to stock, i wonder if this also may have caused anything

when my engine was running rich, the SES light came on and i replaced the MAF sensor and that solved it. I got it from a junk yard and it was off a Z-34 Monte Carlo. Dont drive you car too long with it running rich.

I had a similar problem. I brought my car to the dealer and they put it on the Tech2. it gave out a bunch of codes...anyways the problem was a wire on the wire harnes going to the injectors was broken causing the injector to remain open. they replaced a 8 inch piece of wire and the problem went away.

My SES light came on last night on my way home from the beach, I checked it today and it came back the running rich code..... so looks like I'm going to be replacing the MAF?? and checking all my wiring!
