Replacing Gauge Cluster Question.

I know this has been discussed in another thread somewhere, but I cant find it.

If I were to replace my gauge cluster, would it still show the correct # of miles for my car? It seems to me that someone once told me that the mile read out is not stored in the cluster, but rather the computer. Anyone know for sure?

IIRC ... the mileage is stored in th BCM

I went to the GM dealership to find out for sure...I had the same question. For sure....100%.... the mileage IS stored in the cluster...NOT the computer!

So....if you were to buy a used cluster...it would show that mileage...NOT your car mileage

Have you done this before? I really don't think they are, but i can't say for certain and it's not in the GM service information. If someone wants to try it, I'm up for pulling mine out for an experiment.
