Water Or Anti Freeze?

I have experienced some overheating or my car running hot. but ever since i have been running my car with mostly water, it tends to run perfectly. whenever i try to run it with all coolant or 50/50 it tends to run hot or like try to overheat. is there any cons of running it mostly with water? what do yall suggest

as long as u dont run straight water it is alright. anyways u r suppose to if u decide to add water to use diluted water bc faucet water still has some chemicals in it that are not good for engines.

well freezing shouldn't be an obstacle he/she is in ORLANDO and as long as you don't come to any colder states.. i'd use distilled water and yeah water wetter or purple ice but still run a little antifreeze 25-75 or as low as 15-85 but still keep an eye on it

Running straight antifreeze is no good! it will not cool your engine properly. Run a 50 / 50 mixture. The antifreeze not only prevents the water from freezing, it actually helps cool, and has rus inhibitors in it as well.

Water actually cools better than coolant. If you're in Orlando with no chance it'll freeze, it's not a problem. It is generally a good idea to use "clean" water and add a little something to it.

Water may cool better but at the sacrifice of your engine. You could use distilled filtered water, it doesn't matter the level of purity because It will sooner or later start to corrode it may not take as long but it will happen. Plus with the coolant it raises the boiling point of the water allowing you to sustain cooler temps at longer durations. JMO though!

I guess if you are already having overheating problems then try the plain water you may find it overheats faster. Have you had your engine looked at......Thermostat, fans and crap?

thanks for the replies!

its not actually overheating just running warm and the temperature is always changing never stays in the middle like it used too .floats between the middle and almost to 3/4 hot. not sure whats going on. i never totally flushed the old dex coolant out. so maybe its the conflict between the two coolants. so this weekend im going to flush everything out and do 50/50.

also i didnt get dex cool this time cause i heard bad things about it. just got regular anti freeze.

sounds good guys? any suggestions let me know

yes!! my car is doing the same thing especially in traffic my car gets as hot as 3/4 then when i start driving it goes back down to the middle. but the problem is when im stuck in traffic for awhile i have to pull over and cut off my car fear of it over heating.

also having another wierd problem. when i open it up to put more water or antifreeze. when im taking off the cap slowly. it sounds like the anti freezing is just being release into my car flushing threw the hoses like its not running threw the engine. im not sure whats going on
