The further you go, the more of the stock air intake you replace, thats already been brought up. The more you replace, the more you free up, thus the more air you can bring into the engine. The 2 piece and the 3 piece replace everything. The 2 piece puts the filter in the engine bay, the 3 piece puts it in the front fender. Since the 3 piece has the filter in the fenderwell it brings in colder air, so it would give you a little power, you wont notice too much of a difference between any of them really, but an improvment over stock power and sound no matter which one you get, I love my 3 piece but getting to the filter in the fenderwell is a pain in the ass.

u have to take the fender bolts out and turn the wheel to the right and then it is a piece of cake

1 piece is just the filter its really considered wai. 2 piece is filter and tube can be either going into the fender or can still be in the engine bay depends on the make.

ok I appreciate the assistance, but according to these ebay items which im looking at, both 1-2-3 piece setups go to the fenderwell.

1piece
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00...spagenameZWDVW

2piece
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00...spagenameZWDVW

3piece
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00...spagenameZWDVW

ok so my last question is, would there be any performance diff between either one of these, or would all perform the same seeing as they all take air from the fenderwell to the TB, does having the 3 piece setup really make that much of a diff from the 2 piece or 1 piece besides looks?

thanks again guys and I really appreciate the help

that's why I just went with WAI... Easier to get to the filter and I think it looks better in my opinion... I like it!

yeah and that really doesnt answer my question

Everyone refers to the piece as the # of tubes and not include the filter.

so can someone just answer my question please, I want to make a purchase ASAP!

ok dude, get the chrome intake, it replaces that little rubber peice on your intake, that retricts a little air. So get the 85 dollar one, i bought the 3 peice one from doctorspeed and i LOVE it.

That is where my filter is too. Right behind the foglight in the fenderwell. I bought the 3 piece chrome intake of ebay....and I absolutly love it. Seriously, my car accerlates a LOT smoother and I have more power. It was suprising how much difference it made. The only hard part was the stupid screw behind the light...otherwise really easy

I recommend the 3 piece chrome intake for 82.99...it works great
