Some sub/HU questions

Ok so I got my new deck in the mail today. and so as iwasgoing thru the manual icame upon this section of how-to and so I'm going to type out what it says now: to adjust the subwoofer output: adjust the out put level. 2. Select a cut-off frequency according to the connected subwoofer 31.5Hz to 200Hz 3. Adjust the continuity of the sound among the speakers -18 thru -12 thru -06

Ok can somebody tell me what all that means?

This. To make things easier there might be an online pdf. file of the manual that could help us help you.
