Ever since I replaced the air intake, my car accelerates somewhat faster. The problem I am having is when I'm about to make a "right angle" turn at a dead stop and give it some gas (not too much, but enough to beat oncoming traffic), it screeches somewhat and on a rainy day they will spin out. This only happens accidentally when the wheels are turned all the way left or right and I begin to accelerate. If I purposely floor it when the wheels are straight, I can get a few screeches. I was wondering if when I get some better tires if this wouldn't happen as often or if it is because it is a front-wheel drive and when the wheel is turned, the car's center of weight is shifted somewhat during the turn. Right now I have some all-season BF Goodrich T/A tires and they still have good tred depth.

yea, i notice alot of cars with stock style tires scream while turning sharp, even at low speeds. just a loss of traction. better tires will get rid of this for sure.

I used to do that all the time, too. With my new tires (Falken Visas on 17" wheels) I have to really try to turn them over.

yep, it's a known fact.

GM puts really CRAPPY tires on these cars. I'd Get rid of them ASAP

Trust me!!

When i switched from their S-rated to H-rated performance tires, WOW!!!

Better traction, very little spin during turns. Highway ramps... MMMM

lol

It could also squeel while your wheels are turned because the power is going all to one tire and that will be the one on the inside. When you are going straight the power will go to both wheels which will give you more traction meaning that its harder to turn them over. It very well could be that you have crappy tires though.

What brought me to ask this question was it happened right when I turned into a street that a policeman on a motorcycle went in.. and of course he stopped me and told me that he could give me a ticket for "failure to maintain a vehicle", but thankfully he didn't. All I could say is that it does that sometimes and I really didn't know why then I apologized and shook his hand. I guess I'll know what to tell them if I get stopped again for that. Heh.
