hey guys, I know another thread had been started about differences between J body ecotec models and our cars, but I was wonder if anyone knew if the Alero and the Grand Am ecotec models were identical under the hood, including the layout of the engine bay. Any differences engine wise would be appreciated.

Any differences would be extremely minor.. if your lookin for parts, go for it.
The intake I bought was for a GA, and the parts mentioned in the instructions for the install were in the exact same places in the lero.

minor differences only, as they have the same HP and torque ratings as well as the same compression ratio (while the other ecotec applications vary). Differences should only be between the bodies.

so the grand am ecotec relates the alero more? would a sunfire be different than the ga? I was lookin to get a cold air system installed, but i don't want to order a ecotec for the cav or sunfire if it's not going to work right.

yes, but most parts (especially CAI's) for the sunfire or cav eco will fit the alero eco

The alero and GA eco-techs are the same 100% identical once you get under the hood. Even what is in the computer is the same.
