Well, I have 80,000 miles on it. Virtually everything is still stock. And i just dont want my car to grow old and boring. I want to dress it up before it while its still young.

i want to start off small, spending about 200 a month on upgrades.

and i think i might take some pics first, so you guys could just tell me what i need first....

im getting slot/drilled rotors on ebay. and i im also thinkin about getting this intake
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-04-Grand...017457940QQrdZ1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-04-Grand-Am-Alero-Malibu-Skylark-I4-V6-Air-Intake_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQitemZ8017 457940QQrdZ1)

any suggestions....

you dont want that intake...if you're looking for an intake, please stay tuned; within a week or so, we will be selling them here on the site again. Our intakes here are extreme high quality and replaces everything from the throttle body on. Did you check out the shipping charges on that thing? Ours will be a comperable price and the good thing about ours is that proceeds will benefit the site and not some guys wallet.

ok thanx for the heads up

my car is red
i have a 2.4L V6 engine
my tires are 15 inches

heres the things i think i need to fix first before modding.
my exhaust pipes are rusting, but i really dont know where to start looking. The shop said my alternator was ready to die also so i gotta get that replaced as well. i plan on getting new rotors for the front, is it really necessary to get rear as well? and my pads should be fine, but should i get those replaced also with my rotors?

here are the mods that i think i want to start off with....
i want my guages to look really sweet. like glowing at night and my gear shift has broken off, so i want to get that replaced. i also like interior lights, but the neons i got are velcroed on lol. i also want to get a red dash inside. any suggestions on those things?

this is the tires that i have
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireD...id=004944&ar=60 (http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?rcz=43224&rc=OHCINT&mk=OLDS&yr=2000&cs=215&dVeh=dVeh&pc=43437&rd=15&vid=004944&ar=60)
are they any good?

heres hubcaps i wanted to replace, should i just invest in rims instead?

here are glow guage needles i been lookin at

Alright, you've either got a 2.4L 4 cyl or a 3.4L 6cyl. I'm assuming since you've got hubcaps, you've got the 2.4L.
Since you're muffler is rusted, a new exhaust would be where I would start, followed by the intake. The gauges that you're looking for are called reverse halo gauges. I'm not at home so I can't post pics of what they look like at night. You can find them on ebay for about $40 or so. Do NOT buy that needle kit from ebay. I did that before and its the biggest pain in the ass you'll ever encounter. Not too mention, they don't light up real well either. There is a way to replace the stock light bulbs behind the cluster with LEDs and its in the how to section. Do that before you do those.
Rims, always get rims...dont waste your time with other hubcaps unless thats all you can afford right now. I have a couple sets, i have a set of 16 inch chrome ones and the factory 15 inch aluminum wheels i'm willing to get rid of.
If you're replacing your rotors with the slotted ones, you're going to need to go ahead and update your pads as well. You will just tear through your factory brake pads. With slotted, ceramic works well.

if your looking for interior lighting stuff, i've done a few how-to's in the "how to section" (duh)

and if you were looking at getting those lights... check
www.importintelligence.com (its cheaper)

they are called "intelliglow" but yes, i have heard they are a giant pain to set up.

i agree with double, if your muffler is dying, i'd invest in modding that first. Plus if your alt, is on the way out, you should get a new one of those. (160A performance one if you are going to add lights/sound system)

ok great guys!!! thanx for the heads up with buying the pads with the rotors. i guess i'll be getting the muffler first. any suggestions on that? because i cant seem to find any thing on "alero muffler" from ebay. do you know any other sites. and do you even know what kind i need for a 2000 alero?

this is the alternator i found on ebay that is 160A
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-01-MAILB...sspagenameZWDVW (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-01-MAILBU-ALERO-GRAND-AM-HIGH-AMP-ALTERNATOR-160A_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33573QQitemZ801880 9677QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)
is that a good price?

and i found this alternator at a much lower price, but not sure if this is 160A
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Alterna...sspagenameZWD1V (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Alternator-1999-2001-Oldsmobile-Alero-2-4-Liter_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33573QQitemZ79150 74750QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V)

another thing that caught my eye was this grill....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oldsmobile-...sspagenameZWDVW (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oldsmobile-Alero-Grille-99-00-01-02-03-04-3pc-grill_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33645QQitemZ80190 65131QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)
is that a good grill and price?

man i really appreciate the quick responses, i guess i'll be here more often!

I dont know much about the altenators because i'm still running my factory one....i run it til it dies and then replace is. You might be able to find a member and get the mesh grill stuff for cheaper than that. For the muffler and your money situation, you're either going to want a flowmaster or a mangaflow. You will be looking for the one that fits a camaro. also, if you find one for a 99+ grand am, that will fit as well. If you just go to a muffler shop and let them know what you're looking for and see what they have to get ideas. Your best bet though is after you find what you want, order it online...99% of the time its cheaper. I have had both a magnaflow and now i have a flowmaster 80 series...the flowmaster is louder, but I still prefer the magnaflow.

Agreed, eBay is only good for little crap, not intakes, mufflers and so on.

Your best bet is to check out Alero Upgrades (http://www.upgrades.aleromod.com) and PFYC has some nice stuff too. RSMracing is another good site, and service on both sites are great.

The sticker prices may be more but shipping is cheaper, which in a lot of cases works out to be the same. Plus like I said, eBay has junk most of the time.

Do it right the first time, it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
