I would like to know where everyone connected their power for an aftermarket radio. Currently mine is powered via a power wire for the A/C control. The past week or so the front part has been losing power, acting as if the radio doesnt have enough power for the light on the front to work, but after a few seconds it comes back on. I think I need to possibly hook my radio up to the battery w/ a fuse? Any ideas or suggestions please!

most people i know used a wiring harness to avoid a problem like that

Well the problem may be that the wiring harness I have is the direct GM you can buy at best buy?

Driver side fuse panel if your car is a 2001+

By the drivers side panel do you mean that I should connect power through there or check a fuse?

Get the power from the driver's side panel. A lot of people use the windshield wiper fuse, which is what I used when testing my stuff out. Either stick a fuse tap in there or use something that "iceman" from GAGT swears by. "Add-a-circuit" or something like that. I think you take the fuse out, plug this in the socket, and plug the fuse into the "add-a-circuit". And then there's a wire coming out the side to attach your stuff to. Much better than fuse taps. Couldn't tell you where to get one, since I avoided tapping fuses and installed an aux fuse box under the hood for all my relays and other goodies... :)

"Add-a-circuit" can be found at Autozone. They are only suggested for a load of up to 10 amps. Should be ok for a deck.
Wy3134, my deck used to have the display cut out too, but it was the detachable faceplate, the contacts on the back of the faceplate weren't making good contact with the contacts on the deck. That is probably what your experiencing.

alpines w/V-drive have a seperate, fused, power wire (at least mine does). i wired mine into my power distro/fuse block. could do the same if you're setup for it, otherwise just tap into a red wire (lol, might wanna check it first)

I work at Best Buy and am an installer (ASEP certified) and the Alero harness you need is a harness for all RDS units to where it relocates ur factory deck to the trunk. If you splice the power wire to the wire you're "recommended" to, the unit will actually stay on after the car is shut off and even if the door is opened..it's a pain in the ass. SO, what I did was spliced it to the ignition so it shuts off as soon as the car is shut off (much nicer..for me at least, i didnt like my stereo still POUNDING while i was like walking away from my car and for the next minute or so)
