Anyone tell me how to get this done? Are the stripes on the outside or inside?

my first instinct is that its on the outside....then its just vynil

I just noticed the light reflection on these... it looks like it's on the inside, imo.

Seems pretty tough to get inside those puppies to do that kind of work.

Who's picture is that? Ask them how they did it.

looks like they took the lights apart and painted the inside.

hes a member here, or was. if you look at the pic it is clearly on the inside.

So do you have to break a seal on the tails to get them open?

^ yeah...it's just silicone...so a hair dryer or heat gun will do it easily.

Looks like he did it with a sharpie...but very carefully. Looks nice. :)

hmm i kinda ctually like that on there...normally all the tail borders look ugly.

it is NOT just silicone. that lenses are plastic welded on there. im fairly positve that is on the outside. and done in paint.

bleh...King Asoka is right in both his posts: "done on the inside" and "talk to Bryce about it"

thanks for correcting me, sound.

That is actually pretty nice. Bout the nicest modded tails I've seen on an Alero (I'm not a fan of clear tails).

In 100% agreement with Sound. AlbinoMonkeyRat, using a heat gun or hair dryer is the method for getting inside the "headlight" assmeblies because there is no silicone in the tails. Ever noticed that black trim around your taillight lenses? That's not for decoration. It's showing you just how deep the lens is embedded in the assembly. To even get to the lens, you have to tear, not peel, TEAR off the rubber trim from the entire assembly, and his seems to still be in tact. And forget about getting the lens off easily because it breaks apart at even the smallest amount of pulling tension.

Can you guys really not tell that it's on the outside? :huh?:

im guessin its on the outside, but either way its on the lens itself, not the assembly inside, cuz the lines dont match the shape of the actual assembly components., they do look good however. oh and as far as taking them apart, no, not anywhere near the way the headlights come apart, the tails are welded and either have to be cut off or pryed off, and if they are pryed they tend to break.......oh and another thing, the middle line.....has to be on the outside, cuz the inside is textured, cuz thats where the reflector is. ;)

thats my 2 cents... :)

^^Another man who knows his tails  . That third line would not show up as defined as it does in that photo if it were inside the lens due to the reflector distorting it.

It adds a little more to the tails and still get to keep the stock setup

I stand corrected. At least the part about "talk to Bryce" was good. :)

*hey, I'm still learning here. ;)

im very possitive that its just vynil because my friend and i just finished reding out is tail lights on his Acura RSX and he just had some vynil and we used a blowdryer to help get out the bubbles....unless he just took off the whole tail light and painted it which would have taken him a long time and plus he would have had to be extremely steady to do that.....my instincts tell me its just vynil

I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's done with a sharpie or something. I did a similar thing with vinyl striping stuff on mine, but it doesn't look as thin or smooth as that. Personally, I think mine looks good, but not as good as that does.
