Hi folks,
so its x-mas eve.
And I got a real problem with my 'ho :)
For 3 days, I hear a loud mourning from my wheel bearings.
I heard that this prob accours with around 60'000 km but my has 91'000.
Ok my question is.
ARE THERE ANY WHEEL BEARINGS ON THE AFTERMARKET THAT ARE BETTER QUALITY THEN THE ORIGINAL?
Please tell, me cause they make that much noise, i've got to change 'em in 2 weeks. before something worse happens.
Why are the original wheel bearings such a bad quality?
Why are (insert name :) a better quality?
Wish you all a merry x-mas
And don't have probs with u'r car over the holidays. :)
X-mas greetings from Germany

Thx,
For sure i'll use complete new ones.
I ask, because for example the wheel bearings of european Nissan's last nearly a lifetime long.
So there got to be big differences in quality.
Perhaps the same manufacturer for Nissan produces some equal one to our Alero wheel bearings.
Just a thought.
Lets see, if I don't find anything, I'll stick with the original GM ones.
Do u know the manufacturer of the GM ones?

Yes, there are aftermarket ones that are better. I believe it's Federal Mogul that makes a tapered bearing assembly, instead of a roller bearing. Any auto parts supplier should be able to find out for you though. Don't just get the GM replacement though, because they're 3 times the price.

There is a reason that the Nissan last longer...It’s an import. Not this domestic hunk of junk.

So wanted to do the job today.
But damned, Just should work with time.
Ohh and one other thing.
For the Axle Nut.
Is it a 34 ?? Cause its not a normal nut.
Its these little discs that are hold together by this wrapped metal, looks from outside like a normal nut, but has this holes in the side, and u can see the dics.
Are there any other wierd things that are comming up to me?
For example get the Bearing / Hub off. Can I use a Hammer and just punch it loose? Or are there special tools needed?
sorry have no pics about it.
U just have to understand what I mean. :)

I don't know what size the nut is, but yeah, just hit the thing with a hammer to get it off once you get that far.
