Sear auto has a contract out with Eibach Springs, I went in today to get a price on them and when he looked it up for a 03' Alero it showed there were none available and could not order them because when sears and eibach got the contract they made a list of cars they would be supplying them for and Eibach gave them specific Item numbers that can only be used by sears with the right springs. but he said Eibach springs will probrably be the same cost for every vehicle so he said he looked them up for a mustang, they cost almost $500, I was like poop.... I informed him that on the internet they had them for about $225-$250. He then told me that, Kits that cheap probrably wasnt the whole kit and that I would need to get a "FULL KIT" which includes things that when a car is dropped it slants the tires and the whole kit fixes that problem. personally I have never heard of this before but of course there is always time to learn something new. But anyway I would like some one to tell me if this is currect or not.

Thanks

its called camber. first off, the camber bolts might cost you 15 dollars at autozone, and second off, the eibach springs are not as big of a drop, and may not need camber adjustment. this guy knows nothing about his product and clearly should not get your business. buy from someone who knows what they're talking about. or go on ebay and get the springs. its alot cheaper for the same product. sears sucks.

Are you sure that the $500.00 wasnt the installed price?

yeah there you go, taking your time lowering your car, by your self. takes some time.

so probably sears is charging out the ass for installation fees

PFYC.com

Eibach springs and the camber bolts, total less than 300, shipped :thumb:

Again. Camber bolts won't do anything and could in fact throw your camber off even more using them.

500 was just the ordering price and installation fees were not applied.

Not to stick up for Sears or anything... but my Dodge had a problem with the front end a few years ago, and a Dodge dealer's service department (with numerous "FIVE STAR" awards from Chrysler... har, har!) couldn't figure out what the problem was in two trips.

The Sears in the Ocean County Mall in NJ fixed it in an hour and a half for cheap, and laughed about incompetent dealers. My friend had told me to be careful of their pricing on certain jobs, but said that their work was solid. At first I laughed, but he was right. Of course, it was a stock ride and I didn't ask for specific parts, but still, work quality will vary.

I think with any shop, be it a chain shop or a mom & pop, your luck will all depend on the management. It's hit or miss, any shop could be good or bad, no matter what you hear about other shops with the same brand name.

That said, I wouldn't look to a Sears for customization... or any other corporate whore. Sometimes they have quality help, sometimes they don't. Either way, coprorate shops usually charge more than a job is worth to pay the corporate devils.

Instead, ask a whole bunch of local old geezers with nice American rides (and a few ricer kids for variety) who the best local mechanic is, and see which name keeps coming up. Go there. Don't be shy about asking around to check a local mechanics street reputation either... More often than not, they got that reputation for a reason. ;)

I too have had some big issues with sears auto. the manager actually kicked me out of the store and told me never to come back. so I got pissed and called corporate. They told me to take my car to another sears and get their opionion. Oh, the problem was that they scratched the hell outta my rims installing tires. Anyhow, I took it to another sears, got their opionion and it was that tire installation caused the problem. Rims were only 2 months old and I had documentaion. Together we called corporate right from there. Not only did they order me 4 new wheels...only 3 were scratched, but they upgraded them and didnt charge me for new tires for the bigger rims. I later got a bullpoop apology from the manager that kicked me out and at the same time he told me off cause this deal cost him $1500 to fix up.

I watched that last night and today I went up their and they fixed their fck up.

They drilled the stud out and put a new one in.

Got their at 9:15A.M. and stayed there till 12:15P.M.

But their was this guy up their telling me a bunch of stuff I should do to my car. He asked me what I was gonna due to it and I told him I was gonna get a new exhaust and springs next. And he said that I should get the Magnum Flow Duel exhaust, and said I should go and take a look at the Black Widow body kit that can be custom made for any car and its at import tuner.
