1. if by "on all the time" you mean the low beams, they are 9006
2. all HID's have a certain color temperature measured in kelvin (K). this has nothing to do with the actual temp of the bulb with regards to how hot it is, it only describes what color the light output is. the OEM HID's you see on mercedes and bmw's are 4300K which is pure white. the bluish tint you see comes from the projectors. 6000K is more bluish white and 8000K is more or a purple color. basically after 4300K, the higher the number means the less light output and the more blue or purple the light will be. so to answer your question, in my personal opinion, 8000K is not a good idea. I would try to find a kit that has 4300K bulbs. thats me...you can do what you want.
3. usually plug and play kits are pretty easy to install. put in the new bulb where the old one was, plug in the ballast to where the old bulb was plugged in and plug the other end of the ballast into the bulb.
4. no it wont burn out anything. HID's actually run much cooler than halogen bulbs, plus they consume less power, about 35 watts as apposed to 55 or 60 from your stock bulbs.
5. I dont have any pictures myself but search the yahoo or google for HID retrofits. you'll find plenty of info on anything you need.
just a word of advice....when converting to HID you have to remember that they are 3 times as bright as your stock bulbs. your stock headlight housings weren't made for this much brightness, and may cause a ton of extra glare when you put in the brighter HID bulbs. some people have had better success than others with the stock housings, but the best way to really convert to HID is to retrofit HID projectors in the headlight housings, which are made to handle the extra light output and will not cause any excess glare that will blind any other drivers. this can get pretty expensive so a lot of people just do what you want to do and put the HID's in the stock headlights, which works, but you just have to be careful.
hope that helps....and good luck

You do not need to retrofit. I have driven a while with my HIDs and nobody has flashed their lights at me. My car has sprintechs though so my lights are aimed a bit lower. See some picture of my oznium install here:

Find pictures of what's included under "oznium order".
Find pictures of ballast mounts under "Flowlighting Installation"
Most of the pictures have a description of whats going on.
I ordered 6000K. It was the lowest temperature they offer. I definitely recommend 6000K because it give you a non arrogant pure white color, with no hint of blue or yellow tinting.

2fst4u that is(was) your bumper.
Installation:
Install is not quite plug and play. What you basically have to do is get some wires out to the ballast from inside the headlight assembly and then back into the headlight to the bulb. You can probably connect the lights externally to the power input wire but this is what I found to be easiest. The hole in the rubber cover that I made was probably 1/2" by 1/4" (and slit a bit more on the sides) that was able to fit all that was necessary through.
Here's a pic I just made. Note the l33t ms paint skillz.

i would like to see the back side of the headlights with the hid's installed. i want to see how clean it looks.
i know it's off topic, but, eag, that bumper looks pretty darn good. where did you end up getting it painted at? nice and shiny.

You can't see it, its all hidden by the header panel.
I'm happy your bumper didn't have the "bump" my old one (and others have) had underneath the left light. What year is your ho? Got it painted at Maaco. Was the cheapest around here by about 40%. What were those small holes in the front (license plate bracket?)? Whatever they were I filled them/ sanded it/ sent it off to maaco.

reread that for a good laugh
The higher the temperature of the light, the less you can see.

Yes. But your best bet is 6000K off oznium. If you want 4300K, your going to have to buy much more expensive equipment. between 4300 and 6000, the difference won't be night and day. My 6000 looks very similar to bmws/acura/other lux. vehicles.

Quoted post
If its cheap, there is a reason. I wouldn't buy any kit that didn't use either Phillips, Hella, or Sylvania components. Thats for EVERYTHING, bulbs and ballasts.
4100-4300 is money in the bank. People with colored ones are just faking, projectors are what gives you color.

It is also a huge pain in the butt to do a projector retrofit in our headlights. So much of a pain that only one person I know of has done it. From what I've read, these seem like a good buy at $250.
