What you will need:
Ratchet wrench with 6 inch extension
Spark plug socket. Make sure it isn't very large around (diameter). It's a tight fit.....
13mm socket
8mm socket
needle nose pliers
4 spark plugs

Pop the hood obviously.....

Not shown: Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable using 8mm socket.

Disconnect this electric plug on the driver's side of the cam cover. (don't know what it is. any help?)

Using 13mm socket, remove the 4 cam cover bolts.

Remove cam cover. It won't come easily, but will take some force.

Use needle nose pliers to remove spark plug boots.

Clip the boots back on to this thing. (what the hell is that anyway? coil pack?)

Use spark plug socket and 6 inch extension to remove plugs. I had to use a 3 inch. It made a 20 second removal take 5 minutes on each plug.

Out with the bad. (70k miles)

In with the new. (.050 gap)

Reverse the steps above to reinstall everything.

Any questions?

that little thing you unplug to pull the cover off *I think* is the ignition module. Controls the sparking of the plugs. Clarification?

One question on this: without using a torque wrench, how do you know the spark plugs are in all the way?

Aside from that, good job dude! :thumb:

If you dont have a torque wrench, just a firm tug of the ratchet to tighten them. Maby someone else can explain it a little better.

I just wrenched on em until it took a LOT of force to turn any farther. Not the best way to do it, but the car runs fine.....

I think if you wrench em to much the next time you go to change them they might be female dog to get out (from heat expansion)

Just put some never-cease on em ;)

of course you could also cross thread em, if they are not in correct, or the head could also crack.

The big white thing that the boots clip on to is called a Coil Cover or Coil Housing. That electrical plug was in fact removed from the ignition module. And the big aluminum piece that you removed that says "2.4L Twin-Cam" is the IDI (Integrated Direct Ignition) cover. The cam covers are the ones that mention the spark plug torque on them that actually cover the cams.
