I hope you're modding that engine to carry around all that extra weight, too. Be like driving with Sally Surthers mowing on a prime rib in the back seat. :-p
Meh my tax return's gonna be like.. $250-300, MAYBE.
himfanzach
01-26-2006, 11:27 AM
well i dont think i will have to mod the engine at all i have a cold air intake and i have the 3400 engine i do have to but stiffer springs and shoks in the back to handel the weight

01-26-2006, 02:04 PM
What amps are you using? Where are you planning to put the minimum airspace that those subs require? It requires at minimal 2.5 cu. feet. Thats 15 cu. feet. Even with the back seats taken out your still not going to have that much space. Like previously stated how many batteries are you going to run? What are you going to do about your alternator?
Since nobody else has said it I'm calling BS. This is another one of those things that's never going to happen.
cherrington17
01-26-2006, 02:13 PM
i'll doubt it, just for lack of space. but i will stand to be proven wrong.
and 2500 RMS @ 2 Ohm will around like loud distored ASS. the quality of those speakers cannot be very good. if your going for comp, and comp ONLY then go for it. but your losing alot of car space (if possible) for alot of non tolerable spl.
himfanzach
01-26-2006, 02:41 PM
yeah ill have the air space 13.5 and im going to be runnig the MA audio 2000 d's and for the BS part my buddy owns a car audio shop im getting everything for $2200 and im going to be running 5 batts and a 50 fraud cap im not going to have that system in my car to long im going to sell 2 of the subs and 4 of the amps after i win the show but as for spl yeah i couldnt stand that poop all the time and while were going to build the box we are spraying and dynamating every in the car!!!!!! right now i have 3 solo baric 12 in the trunk and the only thing that rattles is my exhaust!!!!!

this is all to funny.
we all know this probebly wont happen and if it does we prolly wont see any pictures.
so leave the kid alone and let him live in his dreamworld
btw soundxtreme had 4 audiobahn 1008q's in his car which are 10 inch 2000 watt subs and he didnt have the proper room for those bad boys.
cherrington17
01-26-2006, 04:04 PM
umm... you have an alero, right?
i only have 2 fosgate 10" 4ohm @ 1400W and my trunk rattles like crazy. People have tried to stop that, but you can't w/ any amount of insulation in our cars.

it's a waste though, a HUGE waste. it's not about cone area....i've seen cars hit 170+ with one 15. MUCH more impressive that way
slowandlow
01-26-2006, 11:02 PM
power is not everything. i can hit 120 db @ 10 hz my subs sweep 24leters of air and have a fs of 26hz they also have a ultra flat bl and ultra low thd and le. if you dont know what these are then all you are is buying a system. i slected mesured and tested and moddled my ht subs with 2 15 i could hit 140 db @ 55 hz i would do a ib setup. make a wall and seal it to the trunk on one side you have the trunk aka box and the other you have the car side.

i'm not a fan of BOOM!... i like crisp, clean, sharp music that i can feel but still hear... like a powerful 3-way and some small floor subs with a poerful 10 in the back... but i guess that's not competition style... whatever... i've posted this pic before but i'd say go do this as long as you seem to have fort knox at your beck and call...
[attachmentid=9617]
notice how there is more than just 15's... seems to me that building a system to perform is more than just throwing huge subs in a car... i bet i could make a system better than yours by using half the stuff u are. and make it more practical. and aesthetically attractive
himfanzach
01-27-2006, 02:36 PM
that pic is fing sexy!!!! i want to freak people out for the show though 6 15s in an alero ive never seen that before but after the show im taking some of the crap out i dont want to die in my car are never be able to hear again!

i'm not real sure on this project, bud. you need to post up some pics of your progress. and if you're still working on that exhaust rattle, it's more than just a broken hanger. you can reweld a hanger in about 30 seconds. another question, are you plexiglassing the windows? you might want to look into that for your rear windows if they are part of the "box". not sure how this is going to turn out. also, why are you so confident that you'll win this competition? isn't it your first one? just wondering, no offense.

shoulda got a warning for that...
take some advice from your peers... it might save you some of your tax return... unless you're "show" consists of 6 dudes in a walmart parking lot you are gonna come up against a lot of money, and a lot of expertise in the audio field. mabye you can fit 6 15's in an alero... but it's gonna be soooo unpracticle to do that and spend the money to fit them... only to take them out (when you "win")... it's just not feasable...
go for it if you are dead set on it... but you might wanna knock off a 7-11 if you want to make it work... cuz you're gonna need a little extra cash.
