it's too tight of a fit to get my hands / wrench in there

i have the 3400 btw

any tips or anything you guys can give me? the shop wants like 40 bucks to change it out, and i really don't NEED it changed, it's just that i havn't had it changed since i owned it so i thought it would be a good idea for matinence to do it....

Uhh.. you need to change it every 15 or 30k. I'd do every 15k miles. You need better tools or different ones if you have it. like offset wrenches. Where it they angle out. Normal wrench may or maynot fit cuz of the limited space down there. real easy. Just go by an offset wrench.

Yeah or pipe wrenches. Plus the Gm fuel filter tool would be great to have.

the gm filter tool is only for the 99 models. when they used the push in clip instead of the new design clip that doesn't require it from 2000 -current.

I have to remove this big black box looking thing to get to my fuel filter. I can see it from underneath the car but can't get any tools at it until the box is removed.
