First things first

2001 ( 120,000KMS ) 2.4l Twin Cam

My car is idling like SH*T , it starts fine drives fine does not seem to be any lag in acceleration, but when I let it sit an idle every 1 or 2 my RPMS drop by like 100, when it normally will just sit and idle at 500 just drops to like 400 shakes a little bite but not much then comes back to 500. It seem to start after I put fuel line cleaner in the car last Monday and I know it is not from the cleaner because I have used it may times before.

The only thing I have done so far is get the fuel filter changed and it is still doing it.
The no lights are on like SES or anything.

What I think it maybe is dirt in the injectors but before I go dropping like$60 on that I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what maybe causing it.

Oh and something else I noticed is that when I start the car up sometimes in the night it seems like the lights take like 15secs or so to come on to the normal brightness, like they are not getting enough power or something.

Check your power from your alternator to be sure it supplying. The rough idle can be caused by an oxygen sensor as well but those usually throw codes.

my '01 seems to have the same idling problem. Now if you put yours in neutral does it idle fine? mine only does it when I'm in drive & holding down the brake pedal. I'm not sure what that means. Anyone?

I know that if I jockey the A/C, or the Defroster, the RPM's jump for a second, but there's nothing new with that. I have also noticed that from time to time while I'm on cruise control it'll jump from 2800 to 3000 rpm randomly for a few seconds...

I fixed the Cruise Control issue (I think) by working on the cable to the throttle body... but, unless yours is doing it on cruise, I really can't help.

na it only does it from idle and i have tried shutting everything like my deck, fan , and anything thing else i can shut off it still does it. It all most feels like the belt is slipping or something , I got an appointment to get it scanned on friday but if I figure out before then it would save me some money, they want like 70 plus tax to get it scanned.

Just an update , I got the fuel system flushed and the oil system flushed a long with an oil change and the car seems tip top now :)
