i noticed this was being debated pretty heavily in the alt change how to... and wanted to bring it up in a thread on its own..... give it some more appearance....
has ANYONE pulled this off....
obviously upgrading the alt gives you more power... and keeping the same size wire isn't a great idea.
where do the wires run to, and HOW do you change them?
soon to be getting a higher output alt....

ok the main wire from the alternator runs to the underhood distribution block, im assuming it powers everything, gets fused, and then from there goes to the battery........upgrading all other cables is probably the easiest like the ground cables and what not, but that cable directly off the alternator would be a pain........ so my question a while back was why couldnt i run an extra cable from the alternator to the battery with a fuse or circuit breaker in between?? i mean thats basically what the other cable is doing except for the fact its supplying all the other fuses and relays in that box power.......to me that seems like the way to do it, would be better if you plan on selling the car and swappin the alternator back, tons easier........

i have the same question. and, i'm in the market if anyone knows where i can get a high output alternator for the 2.4 at a good price. i'm even willing to rebuild my existing alternator.
