my radio is supposed to stay on while the ignition is off and door is closed, and go off when the door is open.
but the radio goes off when the door is closed and the ignition is off.
can anyone tell me why it does this and can u helped me correct the problem?

is it a stock radio? I don't recall my stock radio doing that. In fact, I seem to remember discussion on the old site about this topic. I think if you want this, you need to do a lot of special wiring.

I don't recall my '99 Alero doing this, but my '01 certainly does.

RAP (retained accessory power)... it's a nice feature that I wish they used on all the windows and the sunroof as well.

Now that I know where the power lines are for it.. I might try to tap into this and hook up my sunroof this way.

are you under warranty? I would take it back to the dealer becasue I have read that a bad BCM (body control Module) will cause that to happen.

The stock radio (2001 models and newer) is supposed to stay on for 10 minutes after you turn off the key, UNLESS you open the door. Then it will stay off until you turn the key again.

If yours is not staying on for 10 minutes, and you aren't opening the door, I'd take it back to the dealer.
