i took apart my gauge cluster to see how difficult it would be to install my gauges. i removed the gas needle and the engine temp needle from the cluster. i removed and replaced both in the exact same way. my engine tempt needle works fine but my gas gauge doesn't work at all. it just sits there as if the car isn't even on. anybody have any suggestions or should i just go get a new instrument cluster?

you probably put it on too far. Use a fork to pry it up a little, and it should work ok.

Yeah I had the same problem, I just filled my gas tank up all the way and then stuck it on, but not as far as before and haven't had a problem since.

if neither of those work, go to the gas station ASAP and just refill every 200 miles. (I've seen all kinds of mileage figures for our cars and 200 miles per tank is the worst i've seen....so if you drive like a granny for a while, 200 miles on a tank would bring you down to about a quarter tank)

no...i just realized that i had calibrated it wrong. i put in a half tank yesterday and it showed that i had a quarter tank left so i knew that i Fed it up. i'm on my way out right now to fill it up all the way and then i'll recalibrate the needle when i get home. i'm just a little bit retarded

nah...my needle's probably just 1/16 of a tank off from a true reading...and it says its emptier than it really is...so not too bad. I'll fix it one of these days. :P I was just saying something he could do if he did something extreme to that poor little needle (like push it on too tight or break it altogether... )
