anyone else have a problem with rust in this area? one side ate all the way through the metal on the bottom. I might try to patch it back up.

I'm not sure how bad it is yet alltogether yet, im going to remove the side rockers and then sand it down, prime it, and probably touch it back up and spray a quick clear on it. do you think this is okay to do - i just dont want it getting any worse, and I WILL NOT repaint the whole rear of the car...

I have the same thing on mine, although mine is a 4 door. Thats the first I've ever seen on a 2 door. Mine is on both sides, although, much much worse on the drivers side like yours. The front edge of the rear drivers door is rusting also. If I have the cash this summer, i'm getting mine done by a body shop. I know it's gonna cost a good bit, but I just want it done right and to last.

there is no need to repaint the whole ass end of the car
the place where you circled is at the bottom corner of the 1/4 panel so why would the ass end have to be re painted???

it`s doesn`t
here is what will happen
the rust will get repaired either sand blasted the correct way or removed by a grinder
the front door will be blended for color match
the 1/4 panel will be repainted, and the bumper would be dropped down the tail light removed the body side molding and the rocker panel
the door= mirror the handle the belt molding, body side molding, and of course the trim panel, and then the door frame molding to remove that the door applique and the run channle would have to be removed as well
so that is what would happen we are not goin to repaint the WHOLE car so a small amount of rust
FYI!!

thats a common problem if you do lotsa driving on sand/gravel/rocks...that poop kicks up from the front tires and just chips the paint away a bit at a time...i have a HUGE area to redo again this summer...it was redont last year after i got t-boned, along with my hood and bumper, and the hood and that area both need re-painting :glare:

it cost me $250 to do undercoating, rust proofing and paint protectant...

Yeah this fall I noticed rust bubbles in that same exact area on both sides. I can see why it rusts there because it is a place that water just builds up and sits after the water runs down the side of the car. Though its going to get fixed in a couple weeks when I take it to my cousins shop to get other junk fixed on my car.

the rustproofing stuff isn't a factory option, its something that a Ziebart (if you have those there) or a shop that specializes in that sort of thing would have to do...Most dealerships use somebody, so they'd be the best person to ask where to go if you're looking to have it done.

i have the same problem with rust right now, just not in the same local. But its gonna cost me just over 800 bucks (canadian) to get all the rust taken off, just because they have to repaint my hood

ok well time to bring back this thread.
. both of my driver doors, very bottom, only on the inside, are rusting where the drain holes from the window channel are.
anyone ever use a rust penatrating/inhibitor (rustolium or what ever) .. i heard of a few. i know jcwhitney has a couple.. but anyone actually use them and have any luck?
its just a little on each door. i knew it was there when i bought the car but it has at least doubled in the last year or so. gonna make sure i use some spray wax and get it up in the door this year to help slow it down.. but dont want it to get any worse.. also few spots inside the edge of the hood but thats understandable.. getting the car repainted in the next year or so i hope so that wont be a problem

I had this issue on the passenger side, then I got t-boned and the whole side of the car got painted and it looks beautiful again. No problems on the drivers side!
