Hi all new member here and I'm having all kinds of trouble with my '02 Alero. Love the car but have had nothing but problems with it. Hopefully ya'll can help.
I was reading through some of the forums and found alot of the symptoms I was having looked to point to the fuel filter, so I changed it. Unfortunately, it hasn't fixed it.
The problems are that, when i put it to the floor the engine lugs massively and almost dies on me. She also won't go above 45 on the highway. I've flushed the tranny cuz it would fluctuate on rpms and then shift. I also just changed the fuel filter. I went to test for leaks and there are no leaks anywhere on the car. I've also left the car in park and tried to floor it but the same problem occurs. She just lugs and then almost dies. Please help!! I'm at wits end.

It has 65k on it. I had assumed that the dealship I bought it off of had done all that. I'll change the plugs and wires. Any idea on the easiest way to clean the fuel system?

Ussually dealers only clean the vehicle up, they ussually dont give it a tune up.
Are you getting an SES light?

Yes I am getting an SES light. I'm gonna do the plugs and wires and see if that changes the situation.

If you have an SES light, go to autozone and have them check the code.

my alero had the same problem, it was a clogged cat. Have it checked. Mine got clogged cause it was burning water when the intake manifold gaskets were leaking

Well, i changed the plugs and checked the wires. The wires turned out fine. Still having the problem. Would a clogged cat cause a sound to come from the front end of the car? It sounds like it's from the tranny casing and I'm none too happy about that.
To describe the noise is kind of tough, but, if anyone can remember what an old printer sounds like, it almost sounds like that. I'm gonna try and get a sound file this way everyone can hear it.

Well, I finally got to Advanced and got the SES light tested. It came back with Multiple Cylinder Misfire, EGR valve, and also a wheel speed sensor. So, if anyone has problems like what i described, check those things. Now if I can just find the darn EGR to clean it.......

Well, I've changed the wheel speed sensor, plugs, wires, coil packs and thermostat to take care of all the trouble codes but I still seem to be having trouble. She'll start to go get to about 3k rpm and then just lose all power. Anyone with any ideas??? :Noooo:
