Rim Repair In Gta

hey guys,

can anyone recommend a shop that will fix rims? preferably near or around toronto.. the polished aluminum lip of my rims got eaten by salt over the winter...

Don't think I can be of any help with a repair shop, but I hope you've learned your lesson to put you stock rims back on for the winter!

there is a place @ Townline & Taunton in Oshawa Called RWR wheel refinishing...
They do amazing work and good deals for cash jobs I think they charge around $30cdn/wheel
A friend went there for curb rash on two of his rims, after they were done you couldn't even tell they were damaged...

from my understanding is he took the wheels off but didnt wash 'em before storing...that sucks man

or better yet go to Crappy tire and get some NEVER DULL in a can and take a couple hours and DIY... more satisfying knowing you did it yourself and money saved
considering you only have to do the lip, shouldn't take more than half an hour per rim... use as much never dull as needed, it's cheap anyway...

I'd still say try Never Dull, and if you can get a buffer on them, buff'em too...
3hrs total should do it...

I use Never Dull once a week on my rims, always worked well for me...
you can't do them once and expect it to shine forever...
after getting the dullness out, wash them as normal and buff the lip with a soft cloth...

ok here's the recap:

- didn't wash the rims before i put them away for the winter. stupid, yes i know - my heart sunk when i pulled the rims out. total disapointment. but what's done is done.
- i tried the elbow greese approach: result wasn't worth the effort - i spent an entire sunday stripping the clearcoat off of 2 rims only - and only the areas around the corrosion - this was the PAIN - and these were the two least effected rims -- to remove the clearcoat i took a cloth&brush with acetone and elbow greased like nuts.. wasn't fun...
- next i took metal polish to try to buff the corrosion off.. like 3/4 came out.. not all of it though..

anyways 2 rims are.. ehh.. and 2 are bad... no way im doing this again for the 2 bad rims.. ugh.. frig that i'd rather pay. not worth the acetone fumes.

Ewww... rim repair eh? Yikes.. I don't wanna even look at my rims... there's dings and... damn.. why can't they just look new all the time??!! :rolleyes:

Go get a kit that comes with the 4 bars and a buffing wheel. Start with the rough bar and keep working at it. The last bar is jewelers rouge. After you get them done then use never dull every 1-2 weeks to keep them shining. Have seen this work miracles on aluminum on transports. The kit is fairly cheap. But you will need a buffer, if your careful you can use a grinder. They aren't rashed there just coroded. Might save you some money but it's alot of work.
