started this morning
I noticed when turning left (even changing lanes) I could hear a quiet squeal.
When coming home this afternoon, just before my house, it started VERY loud, even when driving straight!
thought is mighta been steering fluid, but nope... stops when I begin to brake or when I'm barely crawling.

any ideas or similar experiences?

Wheel bearing! Do a search, you'll find we've all replaced at least one. :)

Could be a loose or bad belt, or a bad power steering pump.

If I'm right, it'll cost $100US to do it yourself, $300 for a mechanic to do it, or $500 for a dealer.
If 3.4 is right, belts are cheap, less than $100 to have a shop do it. Pump, I have no idea.

If it's the pump, you can do it yourself for about $75, or for about $150 or $200 at the shop. If it IS that, it might be worth the xtra money if you can spare it, I hear the pulleys are a bi-atch <_<

If it's the power steering pump, you're in for an aggravating time. The pulley is a b*tch to get off. I broke it... Luckily, a new pulley was only $15.00 to replace...

Now, if it's the belt, you have to remove the motor mount on the 3.4 to get the belt on...

Goodluck either way...

changing belts is actually easier than i thought, i just put a few boards on a jack and put it up against the oil pan, took off the left mount and dropped it a little.

if its the hub bearing then itll be $127 at autozone :)

Sorry to hear this man. And going into a shop not knowing what your problem is, wow, they're gonna try to rape you.

well i had the same problem with the squeeling noise, took to dealer for service and they found some other probs that they fixed and said nothing was wrong with anything else got it back and still squeeks, only when turning the wheel slightly left and sometimes on left hand turns, aggrivating for a long time, and then i changed my brakes, i realized it was the metal pieces that are supposed to hold the brake pads in place etc (the small little cheap metal pieces that sit between the pad and around the rotor) i ground them downa lil bit and turned the rotor while the wheel was off to make sure there was no scratching, and my problem was solved, just somthing easy that is a pain in the but, so if all else fails take the wheel off and check the stupid metal things.

Thanks for the input guys.
Turns out my brakes were getting so bad they were beginning to seize...I was trying to push it a couple more months...o well,...no my speed sensor in the hub is gone...I was hoping to blame that one on the brake job, but doesn't look like I can.

I was just going to post that it sounded like the wear sensors on your brakes. Good show! Glad to hear it wasn't anything serious.
