...and I don't know if I should be impressed or dissapointed, or what. This is a 1/8 mile track, not a quarter....
First things first, I had by far the slowest car there. I had the only 4-banger. The only FWD car. Pretty much everybody at the track today was racing a Mustang or an F-bod, with a few oddities in between.
Run 1 (my first run EVER)
Reaction _____ 1.2827
60 ft _______ 2.5784
330 ft _______ 7.2743
ET @ 594 ft __ 10.4203
1/8 ET _______ 11.1172
1/8 MPH ______ 64.57
Run 2
Reaction _____ .6138
60 ft _______ 2.5691
330 ft _______ 7.2681
ET @ 594 ft __ 10.4131
1/8 ET _______ 11.1151
1/8 MPH ______ 64.09
Run 3
Reaction _____ .7551
60 ft _______ 2.5940
330 ft _______ 7.2740
ET @ 594 ft __ 10.4177
1/8 ET _______ 11.1190
1/8 MPH ______ 64.17
A little too consistent, I think....
Oh, when I find a scanner, I'll show you how badly I was beaten...holy crap. My 3rd run, they put me up against a guy who's trapping 100mph in the 1/8!

... no offense but.. :emotlol: at that last part.
but, better then me.. at least you've done track times.
then again... i don't care to have a fast car... just a nice looking one. (for now)

if it makes you feel any better, I was running my 3400 with a CAI and only hitting 10.6 @ 66 MPH in the 1/8th according to the times from my last 1/4 slips. Sounds to me like you're not all that far behind for having a 4 banger.

What kind of car was the third one?
AlbinoMonkeyRat
04-10-2006, 05:29 AM
It was a Dodge Dart with an engine sticking out of the hood (not just the blower...heads were too...) and the back tires looked like they were 18 inches wide...
When we were sitting at the line, his car sitting at idle was making my car vibrate...

At least you where consistant, that is very important.
ALso when you line up you arent actually racing the guy next to you, so dont worry what he is driving or how fast he is or anything.

Oh I know. It was a test & tune day...opening day, actually. Points don't start until th 21st, and I don't think I'll be running points though...

Even though you did worse than you wanted, you're still making it to the track, and that's better than most. As other have said, good consistancy there for the 1st time this season dude, you might want to consider running the rest of the season if you can afford it $ and time-wise. :thumb: :thumb:

haha i should drag my stock ho out to the track....
just for poops and giggles? it would be nice to know my times.

youre so brave, randy.. i would be scared they were talking junk about me the whole time.

hahaha, depends on who you're doing it for....if you're out to impress everyone else, or satisfy your own curiosity.....you just gotta go for it. I felt out of place having lots of people coming up to my car and asking what I had in it, just because it's got a body kit and a wing. You should see the disappointment when I tell them it's nearly stock. But I'm not there for them, I'm there for me, and that's all that matters.

Something isn't right with that. I used to go the the track here a lot (1/8mi) and my best was 10.3 @ 68mph, and it was completely stock at the time.
But yeah, still isn't bad for a 4cyl.

But this is his thread, so I'm done whoring it up....sorry man.

well, the drivers don't use their mouth to intimidate people at the track, they rev their engines...lol
The only assholes that were there at all were the dingleberries behind the wall behind the staging lines "oh, poor little 4-banger!" Then I burnt out and had more smoke than the dart did....probably not a good idea, but it shut them up. lol
Racing altogether is fun, straight or curvy. I know I would out-handle everybody that was there, except for a select few modern Mustangs and f-bods.

not bad, randy. your running the same as silent when he raced his car. which was 11.1 1/8 mile. so comparing your car would have ran a 17.00 to 17.2 approx in the 1/4 @ around 80-81 mph. but that is comparing to silents car though, who ran very similar times in the 1/8 mile as you.
mine when all i had was CAI (which was too close to upper rad hose), dynomax muffler, TPS/TEC
i ran 10.732 @ 65.22 mph
that was with no weight removed and stock rims.

Albino, PM me next time you think you might go and I'll try to head up there with you...i'm 10 minutes from there. and sometime this spring/summer us WNY guys should go run the 1/4 mile at NY international raceway park (NYIRP) in Leicester - just outside Batavia :thumb: :thumb:

well, NYIRP opens up next week...weather permitting. I'll check it out.
And I was talking to my dept manager at work today and showed him my slips (he races F-bods) and he said I should do some bracket racing with how consistent my times are. I'll definitely consider it.

Just got back, got 6 runs in today
Just ET's & mph for now, I'll scan slips later.
Run 1: 11.0101 @ 64.00
Run 2: 11.0658 @ 64.47
Run 3: 11.1149 @ 64.09
Run 4: 11.1451 @ 64.48
Run 5: 11.2440 @ 64.74
Run 6: 11.2321 @ 63.91
first run was at just about 1pm, and the last at about 4pm. It was getting warmer as the day went on. I'm going to need some tricks to keep my air colder. Without spending money on mods, I doubt I'll be breaking into 10's this year...unless there's a free session on an unusually cold day. (free as in open...I still pay $15 to git in the pit.)
my best Reaction today was .5709. :)

decent times for the 4 banger, and really consistent.
with my six i was all over from 10.3 to 10.6 and it wasnt steady with temperature or humidity change.
but i still did pretty good, and won more money than i spent in entry fees.
i say keep it up

well, I'm doing my brakes today, and the shift kit when it shows up. I'm not sure if my car will be put together before points start. I'm thinking of saving my money and race next year. ($$$ is a bit tight now...I shouln't have even bought all the poop I did with my refund...that didn't last too long. lol)
oh yeah, deadline for signing up for the points was back in March, so it's no go this year anyway.

just dont launch at high revs with the shift kit, you'll develop problems quickly.

d'oh! I forgot to let y'all know I was going again.
fastest r/t was .497 RED LIGHT. Damn it!!!! (Then I sneezed halfway down the track and the e/t was 0.6 (yes, point six) slower than all my other times. WORST RUN right there.
4 runs
RT::ET @ mph
run 1
.6081::11.0478 @ 64.39
Run 2
.6690::11.0389 @ 64.47
Run 3 (round 1 elimination...win)
.5319::11.0351 @ 63.82
Run 4 (the sneeze...f***ed me running Round 2 elimination...loss)
.4979::11.6170 @ 55.97
hey, I just remembered. It was quite a bit warmer out today than my other runs. My other runs were consistent with 11.11-ish. Today I ran with the shift kit. If I run on a colder day, I can get into the 10's.

Hey albinomonkeyrat, what are your mods?
AlbinoMonkeyRat
05-12-2006, 02:00 PM
short ram intake, borla camaro-style muffler, B&M shift plus, 17" motegi MR7 wheels and intrax lowering springs.
the wheels and springs don't do much for the speed, but 17" wheels have tires that are slightly smaller in diameter so there's a little help in the acceleration, and the springs help in reducing wheel hop.
and using those 1/4 mile & horsepower calculators, I'm getting about 155hp at the crank, if my car weighs 3200 pounds. (3000 for empty car, me = 180, quarter tank is about 20)

05-23-2006, 09:24 PM
10.9's are dead to me. My slowest run tonight was 10.89. hehe
My 5 runs tonight:
RT - ET @ mph
.6758 - 10.7693 @ 65.39
.2608 - 10.7802 @ 65.78 (double red-light! At least I waited for the yellows...haha)
.6219 - 10.8331 @ 65.39
.6749 - 10.8949 @ 64.93
.8349 - 10.8949 @ 65.03
so overall, even though I got eliminated in the first round, I was satisfied with tonight's runs. My last two were my slowest for tonight, but REDICULOUSLY consistent with each other.
I will scan these slips (and the others) tomorrow, when I finally have a day off! (7 days in a row in the freezer is NOT fun)
Youngblood77
05-23-2006, 09:54 PM
The double red light run...that was that mustang spinning his tires on the 1st yellow? what a putz  Even though you broke out, you deserved that win based on principle alone. hehehe wtg Randy. :thumb:
AlbinoMonkeyRat
05-23-2006, 10:37 PM
I didn't break out...I red-lit. Breaking out is when your dial-in is slower than your actual ET. And Mustangs had their own class. It was a Camaro. lol his 60' was 4.8420
I ran against you, the early 90's Camaro, and the LS1 Camaro (chick driver) in testing. Then that same LS1 Camaro in round 1, and the same 90's Camaro in the loser bracket.
AlbinoMonkeyRat
05-30-2006, 09:21 PM
I got a few really good RT's tonight...no spectacular ET's though.
fastest ET tonight: 10.98 (also, it was about 30 degrees warmer out than last week!)
notable RT's: .3971 (redlit), .5140 (my personal record!!), .5379, .3570, .5330
8 runs = 2 red lights, 3 near-perfect RT's, and 3 mediocre RT's (but not snoozing)
Slowest ET: 11.2941 (my throttle stuck...I need an oil change...
I'll scan slips later. I have last weeks slips scanned, but I haven't uploaded them yet. Haven't really got the patience for computers much in the summer. hehe
Youngblood77
05-30-2006, 09:54 PM
That .533 was a real eye-opener for me bro. You've truly got a knack for sizing up the tree. Congrats on those R/Ts man. My best doesn't evevn come CLOSE. for example; without looking through all the slips from these past 2 weeks, I think my best yet is a .610. A full tenth slower @ the tree. Good job today bro, this heat we saw today killed every car @ the track.

Truly sorry to hear this dude, I just made those "bumper struts" for your ride today, they're just hanging up @ the company's shop waiting for the paint to dry. I'd try to run them on the street, and see if the lower wind resistance gives better highway mileage. Hell, you could run them to A.S.S. hehehe
