Hesitation On Launch

Yesterday I was stopped at a light. It turned green I pressed on the gas pedal and the car kind of choked and my speedo went all the way to the end and then back and then I was able to go. First and only time this has happened. It hasn't happened since. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

nope no traction problem at all the engine choked and then was alright I just have no idea what would cause this. I'm getting it checked on friday but I thought it would be good to have some idea of what the problem might be.
