Well last night I was messing around (trying to wire in a homemade led lamp) with the light in the center console for transaxle shifter (the light that lights up the different positions at night - P, N, D, 3, 2, 1) and I think I blew a fuse for it... anyone know where I might find it?

The light in that little storage space (in the center console) infornt of the shifter doens't work now either. Just wondering if anyone knew where I might find the fuse for those, well if it is the fuse. I have a '04 Automatic Alero. Thanks.

Argh, well it's night now and I noticed that my cluster lights for the guages, and the backlighting for all the buttons, radio (the buttons atleast, radio works fine), and the air contorl back lights are also not working.

So list of crap not working:

Cluster lights,
center console box light,
transaxle center console shift lights,
climate contorl back lights,
door control backlights (though the buttons work fine),
hazard sign back light (though it does flash when u activate it),
and radio backlights (lcd works fine).

Any ideas what fuse?

try the one labelled "int lps?" its on the top right on the passager side fuse box. if not that one (check the inside cover) for letter G
.... i think thats the one on the left most row, second from the bottom.

i've blown those before with similar symptoms.

I know I checked Int lps (i think it was 'A'), but that was fine. Don't remember about G, but I'll check that in the morning. I've checked almost off of the fuses though :/

Im having the same problem. I was trying to wire some leds and some wires crossed. And now I am in the EXACT same boat. Im having someone look at it tomorrow. If I figure out what it is I will post for you. But if you get to it before me, please let me know.

Thanks.

ps. Does your battery light come on?

Heh you did the exact same thing as me, I crossed the wires for my leds in teh transaxle shifter lamp harness. Yeah, when the key is turned to second position, just before crank. But that's normal.

Ugh, this is getting frusterating. I pulled out every fuse from both the passenger and driver side fuse boxes and then the engine main fuse box... could there possibly be some in line fuses or maybe a burned out relay for somthing?

Hey man. I just fixed myne. IT IS A FUSE!

A friend of mine found it. It was the A fuse. On the Passenger side It is in the top right corner. I had checked it. And I thought it was fine. but there was a small break on the back side. We replaced it with a 15 fuse and everything lit right back up.

I also replaced my dimmer switch, but my friend said that it was un needed because my old one had a little corosion on it, but it wasnt charred like I thought.

Good luck.

^ isn't that suppose to be a 10A fuse? a red fuse instead of a gray one??

i wouldn't suggest using a higher amp fuse .... might damage something...

blown blade fuses are a pretty hard catch.... there is just that little burned out spot.

i've gotten used to throwing them on a continuity check instead of by sight.
