Hey i'm about to take a trip to cleveland from detroit, i'm gonna clean my K&N filter and drop some seafoam in my gas and in my trans. Mainly the Trans since its been shifting hard into second takes a second when i'm stoping to drop back down.... so i'll let everyone know how it goes when i get there and if i notice anydifference when i get back too.... oh and another thing our manual says not to use anything over 87grade gas now i want to know everyones experiance whos used what.. I have the 2.2 gl1 "since i'm in the 2.2 ecotech section" i been using 85 sice i bought it keep getting about 290-310 miles per gallon 75 percent city 25percent highway.. summertime winter time it worse 220-230miles..
any input helps

are you sure the manual doesnt say "anything under 87 octane"? usually it gives you a minimum octane rating not a max....maybe its different on yours. if you only need 87, you'll just be wasting money running any higher octane gas.

def not anything to do with higher octane gas if you upgrade to premium I belive its 91 octane. Try the seafoam though mayb it will help.

sea foam makes a trans fluid too now.

ummm....as far as gas goes in WI, the lowest grade we can get is 87, any lower and its ethanol 85 which is crap gas to begin with. what % is the ethanol in your gas in MI?

% have no idea but we got 84,85, 87. thats most regulars around here 83 sometimes lawnmower gas then 90 midgrade and 91or92 for plus even some places have 94 or 95 ..

but i usually get regular which is 85-87 depending which gas station we go to here
and yes i have seafoam trans tune .. trans shifts hard into secons and 3rd sometimes
maybe i might unplug battery for a little bit see if it resets for the trip.. ..

E85 is the % of ethanol, not the octane level. Ethanol is 129 octane. This is why you need a special ECU in those FFV cars to account for a higher compression.

The only cars that will take advantage of higher octane gas are car with a higher compression, or a modified ECU (DHP).

I have only seen 85 in south dakota lol

I learned something new... I always thought E85 meant 85 octane w/ ethanol.

but i didnt say "E"85 just regular 85 lawnmower gas around here thats what that is.. called economy for the most part at the gas stations that sell it
economy 85
regular 87
midgrade 89
premium 90
then what ever 92 is "high octane"
if the economy is E85 then that what it is but i never knew what they had in it just know when ur standing at a pump with it its says 85%lead free.

but on another note i have a 1/4 tank of gas i put 1/3 bottle of sea foam in the tank 1/3 in the oil and 1.3 poured directly in my air intake (had it all taken apart) some smoke in the exaust but not much. put the sea foam trans tune in (whole bottle) redish pink just like most trans fluid.. knoticed a different in how it shifts within 5 mins of getting in and driving.. still need to get under it and check my fluid level but it no longer hard shifts in to 2nd or takes a long time like it use too
also after running it to work it now idles at just under 750rpm whoo hooo usually just at 1000rpm or just above it.. little more savings on gas when stoped at a light or in dam detroit traffic..or the worst CONSTRUCTION.. since i live at the lodge and 696 contruction central right now..
but done with all that i'm on my way to cleveland til sat morning. hope for the best new job interview

well i knoticed a hella big difference in this trip on gas milage and shifting.

as of tonight i'm about down to 1/8 of a tank of gas and at 350miles to that tank so far 98% highway driving... could have gotten it higher but i rushed home

shifting is much smoother city driving and highway since i put trans tune in it knoticed that the same day i put it in.. plus the higher gas milage

so with this trip running 29-31 miles per gallon mostly highway. it was round trip 365-370 miles for me.
318 miles my last tank of gas which is by far one of my best these last two years. right now at 350 is seeming to be the best. but may take my time next trip which should be next month or so..

also little off topic fo those in michigan near southfield theres a get together every friday it seems of all makes models add ons take offs of what ever behind 7/11 on inkster and 11mile.. anyone been or want to go i went by at 1030 they were out there usually out there before the sun starts to go down my friend says.. anyone got info or willing to go get some? i usually work friday nights and cant get up there.. wouldnt mind going lookin at some of the "mistaken identies" that i cought a glance of never know take it over with aleros one friday night this summer get a whole bunch of people to go..

So you used the tranny fluid seafoam and the regular seafoam. I went to advanced auto and I didnt see any. Where do you purchase it?

yeah post up where you got it at...

im sorta shocked at the grades of the gas, hell, in all my life i never saw anything below 87..... here in pa, we have 87, 89, and 93(sometimes 94)

i had to do a little bit of runing around to 4 places glad they are all with in a mile of each other

Auto zone depends on the store my or may not carry it
Advanced auto(checkers/partsplace) usually has both
Murrays usually has both
Pep Boys but usually over priced

and yeah all the gas here 85-94 is all 10% ethanol
