Ok, to start my car started to get pretty crapy gas mileage and was running a little hot. Fist thing i thought of was O2 sensor adn thermostate. well on the way to school it finaly threw a code so i barowed my instructors scanner and it was the O2 sensor and the temp sensor. Ok so i get both and replace both, trhings seem to be working great runs cooler and a little smoother and from the little test drive i took was getting the normal milage before any problems. Then as i am getting ready for a trip to Kenneywood (an amusment park) with my girlfreind, her mom, and her two little sisters, things go really bad. as i drive into the bank to gets some cash from the ATM my battery light comes on, i look at my volts gauge and it reads 18 plus volts then my abs light comes on then as i try and get outa the bank my abs is constantly on like as if i was sliding on ice but it was 100% dry pavement. then trying to limp it home after i have every light and my sterio on to bring down the voltage my tranny refuses to shift out of 2nd gear then after i stop at a stop light it wont shift outa 1st. So we park it and take a differatn vehicle, after a few choice words at the alero, with the kids in the house ofcourse. And we go to Kenneywood, I calmed down on the drive there and we ended up haveing a great time all day there, then somthing happens that kinda makes me think, I went on every ride except the biggest rollercoaster, the phantoms revenge, which is a great ride and love it but getting there so late we just avoided it and took the girls on the kidding rides and the larger ones there were alowed on. But i was going to go get in line and kayla and her mom were going to take the girls to go play some games but i decided to just avoid it cuz i was to tired from fighting with my car and just wonted to relaxe for awhile. then all of a sudden about and hour or 2 later the line for the ride starts to walk backwards and i look up and the ride is stuck about 3/4 of the way up the on the way to the first drop. a little later i hear ppl taking about someone falling off a ride and see a man get wheeled away pretty quickly and taken to an ambulance. now im not sure if those to incedents were conected but had i gotten in line when i was going to, i figured i woulda been either on the ride or right there ready to get on. But anyway the rest of the day was fine and made it home just fine. I haven't looked at the alero yet today but in about an hour im gonna go see if i can figure out what is wrong.

Ok you guys arn't gong to belive this I just went out to try and figure out what was going on with the ho, and when i tried to start it and the battery was dead. so i figured ok somthing must have drained that battery so i charged it and everythign and went to try to start it. It started right up, no codes no dumby lights and when i drove it i swear its running better then it has for months. I have no idea whats going on with this thing but i sure am glad its working again.

Well 18 volts is alot so it shouldnt have been your battery when you were driving because mine hangs at 14 volts. I dunno what coulda been wrong though man, you have me boggled.

I'm not sure if the alero has a built in voltage regulator in the alernator or if its controlled by the pcm. But it seems to me there could be something wrong with your alternator thats probably why your battery went dead.

Well i have checked everything out and this is what happened from what i can understand. My alternator went out, not the first tim, and instead of not charging at all it went to full feild all the time and killed the battery, I'm also figure that the ABS system turned itself off and turn on the light to protect itself from the high voltage and from what one of my instructors said the computer wouldn't let the tranny out off 2nd or first so as to keep the cars speed down do to all the other problems. I installed a new battery and alternator and the ho runs better then it has for a long time, so its all good.

I donno I still think somthing else was going on though cuz the whole ride going haywire and and my car having that many problems all at once and ending up being the reason i didn't wanna go on the ride. But thats good its nice to know ive got a couple garding angles, never thought it would be my car though LOL.

Lol ohh yea i got more then a couple fries from the potato patch those are awesome, and a corn dog, and some cotton candy, and a funnel cake, and a couple tacos and nachos. (we had a 10 and 3 year old with us so yea). But it was a really good time though.
