violent, why not just go all out and get the tarantula amp? :P
violentrapture

Tarantula is nice, but I needed matching amps for my install - hence the PCA-2000D and PCA2.520 (160x2 and 1500x1 - power I need)

also.. tarantula costs 2x more then everything you have laying there. lol
violentrapture
05-11-2006, 12:24 PM
lol, not a chance - even new the Tarantula monoblock is only about $1200 from a reputable shop (saw one go for $500 not too long ago on ECA I think it was).
The PCA2000D is ~650, subs run ~250/ea, PQ-7 is ~150

hmm... i guess i was just remembering back when the taran. was new... ~2000.
and you spend 650 on an AMP!? wow.. you have much higher taste then me. lol.
violentrapture
05-11-2006, 01:20 PM
heh, the amps I really wanted would've been about $6k - dual Helix X2000.2 (1 running at 2x265@4 for the fronts and 1 running at 1x880@4 for subs).
Someday... my goal is a McIntosh deck, the Helix amps, Rainbow CS 360.30 components, and Velodyne subs. Haven't quite made up my mind as far as processing.

Image Dynamics NX30 tweeters
Diamond Audio M6 components
Phoenix Gold Xenon 100.2
The Soundstream stuff is going in as the final install though.

Job = good thing. :P And with the various forums you can float a couple grand and keep swapping equipment around for awhile - my current amps (DEI 500/2 and RF 1500.1bd) are already sold as soon as I pull them out of the car - the Rockford for almost double what I paid for it.

Even out of the car your equipment has me jealous. Of course, I only have a set of JL comps and a two channel amp in my car at the moment. It doesn't take much to turn me green with envy. Keep us informed of your projects. Later, Mike G.

Got something sexy in bed beside me - think my girlfriend will be jealous? ;)
Picked it up tonight (PG x600.1)
Triple Darlington output stage, underrated by about 100 (birthsheet shows 718@2).
Going into the girl's install:
'98 VW Beetle
Source: Panasonic CQ-HX1083U
Front stage: not 100% sure - either Bravox Kevlar 6.5" or CDT CL-61A
Front amp: PG x100.2
Rear fill: none of course
Subs: 2x10" Image Dynamics, sealed
Sub amp: PG x600.1
Let me tell you something, these new bugs are a PITA to work on.
Anyways, should have some install pics up in about a week or so when it's all finished.

I wouldn't complain. I don't even have the full aftermarket install and I work for a audio company. Damn bills and other hobbies have done what I swore would never happen. They stripped me of my pride, dignity, and stereo. Oh well, give me a few months of overtime and the Titanium subs are mine. Oh yeahhh.

Well, I'm playing hooky from work today and decided to have some fun - the ID NX30 tweeters came in, so without further ado, pictures:
All you need to have a lazy Thursday:
http://www.collind.com/pikshures/stuffs.jpg
mmm, crossover
http://www.collind.com/pikshures/crossover.jpg
14 ga. tweeter wire - oh the gluttony
http://www.collind.com/pikshures/spwire.jpg
But I can't find any solder, whatever shall I do?

When you wake up after a night of drinking and you have this next to you - it was a good night
http://www.collind.com/pikshures/seatmess.jpg
Bottom line - these are f'ing amazing tweets - handle power so much better than the CDTs, vocals are much cleaner, and overall the sound is less fatiguing. Off-axis response is a lot better too... optimum location is by my feet, cross firing.
woohoo

That's crazy if it comes like that and there's no markings on it. It must be some obscure brand that performs very well (and probably very expensive!) knowing your taste. The only other one i remember seeing with a cone shaped like that is a JL audio, but then again, I'm not much into this stuff..
violentrapture
05-21-2006, 10:33 AM
heh, yep - comes with no markings just like that - fairly obscure, performs very well (from everything I've heard - haven't tested it yet). However, they aren't very expensive. ^_^

lol, it's already been spoken for by two people. :P
Although, I did just get 3 tasty boxes today (one is the Soundstream PCA2.520 for my fronts) - got some stuff up for grabs:
12" JL W1
12" Polk MOMO
the TC Sounds that was in question (It's a TC Sounds TC2+)
The whole deal with TC Sounds - they're a buildhouse in San Diego that makes the drivers for Eclipse, Soundsplinter, etc. - the one shown could have turned up as an RL-i or any number of other subs.

Front stage: CDT HD-6 mids (might change to SEAS Reference drivers), Image Dynamics NX30 tweeters, CDT Satnet-560 crossovers
Rear fill: none
Subs: 2x10" Treo SSi
