Hey Everyone. We started Saturday afternoon and worked from 4 until' 1:30 Sunday morning. Then woke up at 8:30 and finished about 6 sunday afternoon. With the help of a few good friends and a lot of helping hands this project was a success. The only thing thats not finished is the ring around the subwoofer itself but thats an easy and cheap fix. Let me tell you that it sounds clean as hell and bumps at my command. I wasn't looking for a heavy-htting system, just a nice clean install with some bump to gain those extra points at car shows. Feedback is welcome, positive or negative, let me know what you guys think. I'll get some higher quality shots up later tonight.

what are the right reasons? he said he's happy with it, isnt that all that matters?

That's ridiculous honestly - it's his car and if he wants it to be a show winner that's his prerogative.

not bad, except i woulda cut the carpet around the sub circular and not the octagon design

he said he liked the way it turned out, but he also said the reason that he did it was he wanted to get more points at shows. its simply a matter that u should build your car how u want it, not how u think judges at a show want. it's as simple as that.

He got exactly what he wanted:
1. nice clean install
2. some bump without being an SPL monster
3. extra points at shows for install
seems like a winning combination.

^ agreed.
like i said, i though it was a very original install idea, dont see very many of them. hes not competing for sound but more for looks. hell i would vote his way with that install ^_^

i read your first post, hence i was able to quote from it. furthermore, u said to post whether we were positive or negative about it. u should have just said to only post if we were gonna compliment, because criticism made u get your panties in a bunch.

Thoughtful criticism is always welcome ("I think it's gay" hardly qualifies)
Whether or not it was due to not reading the full post, misunderstanding what he was after or whatever the reason, your criticism didn't faithfully represent what he did with his install - you knocked it because you thought he did it merely for a judge/trophy, which he clearly didn't.
Can't wait to see pics with the sub ring on johny!

Thats looks really awesome man, i wish i had the know how and the money to do somethin like that. and on the know how part, i know its a newb question but i'm not totally stereo savy, what does a distrubution block do?
violentrapture
05-15-2006, 05:19 PM
Splits up your power/ground wires to multiple amps. Basically lets you run multiple amps off of a battery without having to do multiple runs of wire to the batter. Battery -> wire -> distro block -> amps
2fst4u
05-15-2006, 05:19 PM
it distributes power.
violentrapture
05-15-2006, 05:24 PM
Not necessarily just power - there are dedicated ground distro blocks, power/ground blocks, etc. - I'm sure you're aware 2fst4u, just clarifying a bit. :thumb:

Power is the term used for the product of voltage and current measured in watts. Meaning that power results from 12 volts positive and ground. The correct terminology would be a 12 volt distribution, ground, or common distribution. Just thought I would clarify you a bit there violent. :thumb: Oh heahhhhhh.
Johnyboy, I like your approach to the design and look forward to seeing the finishd product with the grill.

I will haul my groceries in my chevy but I have ran into one problem so far since this has been finished. My cooler for my "POP" no longer fits in my trunk and when I have passengers it would be impossible to have it in the backseat. So I have to come up with a backup plan...maybe a custom cooler or something. It has to be long and skinny...and ideas? Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

thanks for all the feedback everyone. I apreciate it. BUT, i have a REALLY HUGE favor to ask of everyone. Does anyone know of anything like a trim or something I can put around the inside of the subwoofer enclosure to cover up a few rough edges. I ordered a subwoofer girll but it doesnt cover up what i need to be hidden. All you audio guys have to have an idea. Let me hear it.

this is what i'm talking about if your all lost. I sunk the sub for a reason so it would be flush with the false wall but not i have a split edge so-to-speak.
Satsuriku
05-17-2006, 04:47 PM
ok im not an audio guy by any means so im just really pulling this outta my a$$ ^_^
you could try and make a trim yourself that might cover it,as to what you would use and how im not 100% sure but like you said, tons of other ppl will have an idea on what to do :thumb:
