When i started my car today, i noticed my red security light was on. What does that light mean or how is it triggered to go on? Do i need to reset my fuse area to turn it off or does it go off soon?

this happened to me and it was the ignition solenoid/cylinder whatever you wanna call it. if i drove around with that light on for quite some time. it wasnt until i had to keep waiting ten minutes to restart the car before i got it changed out. it wasnt cheap either, like $300 if i remember correctly. it might be your key too. try a new key first.

yes try the key but dont have one copyed off your existing key go to the dealer and have them make one from the vin number.. that shoudl help at least its only a what 30 dollar fix so u can find out if its not the ken then you can go get the whole key switch changed but HOPE for the best

This happened once before but it was a long time ago and it went on again today so its not like it goes on every other day or something. Is it still that problem even tho it isnt a regular thing?

its not going to hurt anything to not fix it right away. once it wont start and you have to wait ten minutes everytime it does it is the problem.

So it ends up locking the car for ten minutes when it goes bad? Was this thing made for people who try to start the car without a key or something and then the engine shuts down?

dude, i've seen this problem a few times (once on my car as well) get a new key from your VIN at the dealership, like they said.
here is a way to get it free.
call ahead, tell them you need a key, you work until AFTER the service (or parts, i cant remember) section closes, and ask them if you can pick it up at the front desk.
when i did this, they didnt tell the front desk that i was supposed to pay 30 bucks, and i got it for free. it was cut from a pontiac key, but i didnt care, it worked and it was free.
