Batteries

ok.. i went to lowcostbatteries.com and looked up an optima battery.. they say none fit my car.. wtf.. are there car batteries that wont fit certain cars? i thought that as long as they were car batteries.. puttin out 12V it was fine.. is this not the case? any help would be stupendous

75/35 fit our cars.

size does matter in this case, since you have limited space, to fit the battery in the holder. you don't want it bouncing around under your hood.

I have an optima yellow top D34/78.
I just had to cut 2 sides off the battery tray with a dremel, it was a whole 1 minute job.

When they say fit they mean fit in the battery tray, any 12v car battery will work (depending also on side or top posts but with optima they have both).

Modifying the battery tray is the easiest way. You can also put the battery in the trunk- places like Summit and JEGS sell kits. I have an aluminum battery holder designed specifically to fit Optima batteries mounted in my trunk (frees up space for my intake!).

Ive been thinkin about runing it to my trunk also to free up some room and even out some weight.

sorry.. but even out weight? its a whole 30 lbs.. i respect you man but that sounds kinda ricer-ish to me.. seems to me that it wont make any difference at all.. you dont hear about ppl relocating the battery to the trunk for even weight distribution.. they do it for room.. trunk batt kits do nothing for performance.. what so ever

Then why does a BMW 325i have the battery in the trunk, yet a 318i has it under the hood? The 325i actually does have the battery tray under the hood too, it's just not used. I know it's not alero related, but still.

Yes, but in the caddy it's a design point of the car. I was comparing ONE model where the battery is in the front on the lighter 4-cylinder and in the back on the heavier 6-cylinder. Certainly there must be SOME reasoning for that.

Yeah, but it is a 60lb weight shift. You take 30 off of the front and add 30 to the rear. That kind of stuff can make a difference. It may just be the difference in a well balanced car and one with understeer. Now I'm not saying that a battery alone with make your car corner better...but if you do quit a few different things then it just might.

you're such an idiot. this is completely different. and by the way, civic, alero, etc, it's all the same, drilling out the airbox will do the same thing a WAI will do (though you better swiss cheese the BOTTOM of the box, not the top.)



look at it this way, car company A designs a 4cyl car with near 50/50 weight distro.

later said car company comes out with a 6cyl version of the SAME car. now the weight distro is all f***ed up and it understeers like a mofo. solution?

throw the battery in the trunk with a full spare and you're looking at 50/50 weight distro again.

yep... doing that with the Nissan since the RB motor is heavy then the stock KA motor. Also where the battery fits in the Nissan is right where the exhaust manifold and turbo are going. This is nothing like drilling holes in an airbox. This is just common sense.

hey i was really bored and couldnt sleep so i drilled holes in my airbox yes i know im gay. But quess what i didnt get ne more power but it does give me a differnt sound from the engine. Ok now everybody give me crap i deserve it. AND IM NOT A RICER!
