Just looking over them real quick I'd pick the HID plaza ones because they have a built-in igniter. It's only one box to worry about mounting instead of two. That's the design many of the HID cars have too.

Says "2 x ballast"

Two ballasts (or boxes, depending on the depth of your vocabulary) to mount.

Be careful if you are putting HID's into stock headlights without a projector. They will be incredibly bright and not very focused. I've heard this can be really bad for oncoming drivers if you do not have a projector. Also, in some states I have heard that it is illegal to use HID's without a projector.

I was meaning one box per side, unlike the others with two per side.

They seem to work well in the Alero's stock headlights. The headlights are kind of unique in the Alero because they have DOT and E-Code certifications unlike most american cars, which *usually* means they project the light a bit better. As for HIDs without a projector, that seems kind of silly, there's MANY cars that come that way. Basically it's illegal to change the light source if your original reflector/housing wasn't tested for DOT certification with HIDs (the approved bulb type(s) are on the light itself). It's just as illegal to install HIDs as it would be to say fit a 9005 bulb to the low-beam for example. That's why many people retrofit the HID projectors out of BMWs, Audis, etc... or I guess you could use a couple Hella 90mm modules. That way they get around it by installing a unit that has DOT certification.

Can't say I have really seen any HID equipped car that didn't come with a projector. Look at the Bimmers and Mercedes. I'm not recalling all this info from my own personal research, I am just remembering past discussions on this board about HID's.

That's for sure. My dad's Q45 doesn't have projectors either (1999). Also, Mercedes didn't have projectors until recently, the W210? E-Class didn't have projectors. Neither did the newer style S-Class or CL, etc.. And you can't forget the one that made it popular, the Lincoln mark VIII. Also coming to mind, the Acura TL, Nissan Maxima, etc,. etc,,

Sorry, I must have been having a brain fart. Not all have projectors, but they all have some sort of reflector. Sorry... :alcoholic:

You just said the wrong thing, but I knew what you were talking about. It's the idea that counts right?

Any HID headlight housing, whether it's projector or reflector, is designed specifically for the much higher light output of the HID lighting, and provide a much more focused beam pattern below the cut-off line to greatly reduce glare. Swapping HID lighting into projectors or reflectors that aren't meant for HID, but come stock with halogen bulbs, produces too much glare above the cut-off line, potentially blinding other drivers in front of you. It's best to swap the whole projector or reflector housing with HID into a non-HID housing to get the most focused beam pattern for the furthest light projection and minimum glare.
