I was going to say the same thing - but when I got a new windshield they used the old stuff. I almost lost it recently, they didn't stick it down good. But, they could probably tell you where to get it.

Its that black seal around the front and back windshied. I found out the front has 3 different names for the 3 different parts. Molding for the top, lace for the bottom and seals for the side 2 parts. They can't keep things simple. I did try to get them used but I was told by the auto glass guys that once they come out they need to be replaced. Also found that the auto guys can get them for a 3rd of the price so I might buy the molding and lace from them but still the seals are $$$. Bet it only cost olds about 3.00 to make them hahah.

the windshield moldings are glued on with the windshield. If you want to change it you'll need to take out the windshield and reglue it back on with the new moldings. Cept for the left and right side on the front windshield cuz those unscrew out. but the top and bottom and whole rear windshield is all glued on.

misslindseysue - whoever did your front windshield halfassed the job. Every windshield job i know always changed out new moldings. I dunno if your company you went to was trying to save 30 bucks on moldings or what.

I didn't watch him do the whole thing, but he definitely reused the part on the left and right of the windshield. And it was cheap, so I don't really care. I was a little miffed a year later when it almost came off because he didn't put it back on quite right. But my mechanic friend at work found some butyl and stuck it back down good for me.

I can't think of why it would be hard to install a window. I would think you would really need to be messing around to mess anything up.

I called to get a price on the alero side molding new and was told it is around 70.00 + tax. I thought the Grand ams are so close to the alero I would just see if they would work and they do and they are only 35.00 each after tax. IDK if I got someone that looked up the wrong product number but thats a huge difference but I still think they are way over priced for what they are.
