Ok guys, I need some help and or advise from those who have done an install on a CAI.

I did an oilchange/new pads on front, this weekend and I figured hey, the wheels are off and the weather is gettin nicer...Ill put on my cai. (DR. SPEED)www.doctorspeed.com

The install went very smoothly, up untill inside the fender/wheel well.
The K+N filter does NOT fit well at all. <_< It is mashed up against the winshield washer resiviour, the side of the bumper, and against the wheel liner(enough to leave a nice sized bulge). I took a few pix(crappy ones from camera fone...sorry, itz all I got.) so u can get a better idea what Im talking about.
I tried virtually EVERYTHING to make this fit better and no luck. I treid the 90 bend pipe both ways, and the filter extension pipe both ways. I'm thinking maybe I got a kit with improperly cut piping??? I dont know. I almost need another 90 inside the fender wall for an ideal fit. Please give me any info or suggestions that you have to help me here.

As of tomarro after work I may convert it to WAI by eliminating the 90 and cutting the filter extension(so that it goes from filter to MAF).

Im not exactly sure on how the APOC, or FDP cai's differ from Dr. Speed but If you have any of these, and installed yourself...please let me know if you had this problem as well. Thanx guys!!! i'll post the pix now....

also, this is on the 3400 V-6

Here is the extension pipe and the K+N. Is this the normal spot???? In this location it is mashed up against everythang.

Here is a shot of the fender liner bulge. It is hard to see since it's dirty and its a CRAPPY camera....but my finger is pointing out the bulge.

mine points towards the bumper, can you not rotate it or is the windshield resevoir in the way?

the pic I have showing the filter is the best I could do. What u are talking about is ideal, but I would need a longer extension pipe with more of a bend, like a 90degree. who makes your cai?

I played around with it a little more before I got the brakes done and the car back on the road...

There is really nothing more I can do.
I emailed Dr.Speed with the problem and some pix, so I'm waiting on a reply with that. Im pretty sure the problem is on their end with improperly cut/bend tubing....

I have the Dr. speed too and I had no problems putting in the filter. All I can think of is trying to twist it and what not until it fits correctly

be a litlle rough, you should be able to twist it to get it to fit, or you can buy a shorter filter

I heard back from Kyle @ Dr. Speed..... He basically appologized for any troubles and said he would send out replacement peices to me asap. Then, tonight I got an email stating that he shipped them out today.
Good guy! great cust. service.....
So, I re-installed the stock poop for the time being. I'm takin the car in soon for the god damn lower intake manifold gasket leak....so it's better that I have it lookin stock anyway, so I dont get any poop from the dealership.
