hey last summer i was out in detroit visiting family/going to see some tigers games (sick seats...3 rows back from the tigers dugout and it was for the royals series where they had the brawl of the year). at any rate, michigan ave was alllll torn up last time i was out there. have they finished that project yet or what?

Uh.. Michigan Ave is in Chicago. I haven't been downtown recently, but the construction I know about is on the Lodge/M10 and I-696. Which you probably wouldn't hit. Check out AAA.com for all the construction.

you must not have been in downtown for the last 100 years then because there is certainly a Michigan Ave. in Detroit. Old Tiger Stadium is located along Michigan Ave. That and Ford Rd. are like the two roads i spend the majority of my time on when im in the area

Ok, ok. I know what you're talking about. I don't know what's under construction though.

its summer time in MI which means all roads are under construction...

Off the top of my head there is construction on 696,96,275,m-10(lodge) Not sure of 69 I don't go that way often.

At any rate look for construction wherever you go. :)

grrrr i remember the good old days when a vacation out to detroit consisted of crappy roads and nothing being done about it....those were the days. not to mention the infrastructure has changed quite a bit before my last visit. about 12 years in between my visits.

but at least they are trying to revive the city...(not sure knocking down vacant buildings is the only solution but they are trying)

No michigan roads are done yet, they all suck.
Michigan has the worse roads and highways compared to any other state. I have to try and find that study.

No need to find it, I live here and I can tell you they are the worst. We have no tolls to take car of them (which is nice in a sense) It makes for good drivers learning though. You learn to dodge the potholes really good.

Yeah, the road quality may not be that good (honestly, i don't think it's THAT bad). But at least when they do the road-work in MI they usually do it at off times. Here in IL they love to close lanes and do road-work during peak traffic, not to mention dragging down the speed of those tollways that you're PAYING to go on REALLY slow. I think everywhere they are getting better with the materials they are using though. At least i work 2nd shift and get to miss the traffic.

They do road work mid-day deped=nds on locatoin of road work.....The only tiem they do it at night is if $$$$ is involved for example they jsut opened up a IKEA like yesterday by me right on 275, at the off rampe they were resurfacing liek 10 miles of it so u can bet that its happenin at night but other then that day time is usaully when it is done

They do it whenever they feel like it. Most the time they are just standing around pointing at stuff.

I've driven through MI many times, and that's how it seems that they do the road work (At least on I-94 where i have to go through). Then again, the traffic isn't as heavy as around here.

over here in Grand Haven they are tearin up 31 and are doing that from 7pm-6am...other than that its pretty smooth around here...they could do some repairs downtown but if they do it now they will lose so much tourism...

^^^ White Castle, the unnatural laxative

My dad lives off of Michigan Ave. in Wayne, next door to the Ford truck plant. Seems like everytime I'm in Michigan, they are always doing something to the roads in Detroit. A couple years ago when I had gone the roads in Detroit were very bad and not just Michigan Ave.
