ok so I was just wondering how big would your rims have to be inorder to cause suspension problems with ur car(rubbing, whatever else...)?? I'm looking into 18's with 225/40R18 tires... so i figure it shouldn't be a problem because I haven't dropped the car YET, but I was wondering whats the biggest "SAFE" size I could take it too without there being any problems...

You will have no problems with 18's and 225/40R18...I have the same size tires with 18" rims and I have Intrax Lowering Springs with no problems.

There is a guy running 20's on an Alero, but it's not dropped. I think a dropped GA is running 19 x 8.5 but that's a bit wide

ya i woudlnt run anything wider than 8inches
at 8.5 if your running a 18 or 19 inch rim you would prolly rub the strut perch or strut iteself unless you were running rubberbands for tires

Dont be a kitty! I tuck 19X8.5'z. Throw 22'z on it if its not lowered!

20x7.5 would work with no major suspension mods. Springs will work, but you'd have to get rid of the fenderliners in front to use air or juice. (Richie, and anybody else with air or juice can verify this, one way or the other)

Ya 20's fit (according to everyone on here) the largest I've seen is 19 inchers and they filled out the fender wells quite well...I see you're looking into 18's with 225/40 and those would be fine...but how big do you want???

18x8 will work with no problems (with the right offset, of course). 19x8 I think is the tallest you can go with being that wide.
