I think the poop sucks and I wouldn't reccommend it to my worst enemy. Save your money and do it right, glass it or re-vinyl it.

If you got to a paint suply store you can get vinyl resin paint which is actually ment to stick to the vinyl. Its a little pricy and you have to apply it with a paint gun but its what i used and it worked well, lasted about 2 1/2 years before it started to peel off and that was only in the high were areas that were plastic, i can't even scratch it off the vinyl if i wanted to.

I am going on the first year of having done this and I am SO sorry I did it. Took about 40 cans of paint and after sitting in the sun over a summer it started to chip and fade really bad to the point where I would have to redo it or just replace the vinyl. I am now installing new vinyl in the car so it looks clean and will last the life of the car and give me the look I am going for. The other option is to use a dye not a paint a dye. You have to be very careful when buying the dyes because 90% of the time they are paints of some sort. If you want pics of my dash, doors, and panels PM me and I will email them to you. After you see them you will change your mind about paint :) Oh and a famous line, you get what you pay for!

y do u have 4 inch speakers sitting on ur seat and also if u turn ur subs around theyl sound better
DarkStar
07-01-2006, 12:28 PM
i have those speakers there because they add voice, my subs tend to drown out any actual sound.
Also if i have my subs facing the trunk.. the trunk rattles like crazy.
pimpalero2003
07-01-2006, 02:54 PM
i know u need to use sound deading material and it might be better if u place those speakers somewhere else
DarkStar
07-01-2006, 02:57 PM
yeah, your probably right about the speakers.
and i was looking at getting some dynomat, but that stuff isent all that cheap..
pimpalero2003
07-01-2006, 06:41 PM

Dude from experience, dont paint your interior. I painted my interior and 3 months later I hated it. All the work and money on spray paint and I had to rebuy my interior peices for the car to look decent again. It looks ricer no matter how you do it unless you glass it. cost me around 250 dollars to get all the stock peices back in the car :(

Well I'm clueless when it comes to "glassing" it.. :( Anyone in the Orlando area want to help???

It probably won't turn out that good one's first time fiberglassing. From what I've read it's a lot of messy work first, then lots of sanding, lots and lots of sanding.
But you won't know till you try, which is what I plan to do someday. Maybe when it gets warmer out in the spring or something.
AftermathAlero (I think that's his name) has a lot of fiberglassing done in his car, and there's some good forums on the internet about doing it. Go read up and get the ideas down and stuff before you cosider trying to glass something.
Basically I've heard it's like hardcore paper mache. You get a base of resin on, or in some cases resin covered cloth (the cloth is the structure of glasses boxes n stuff) then you put on strips and layers of fiber glass chop mat (I think that's what it's called) and paint over them with resin until you have a sturdy structure. Then you do lots of sanding and stuff and I'm pretty sure you use some body filler, too.
That's the process, I'm pretty sure to glass a dash you'd take it out, cover it in tape and aluminum foil, glass it to make a mold, then glass the dash using that mold.
Or something, I dunno. I'm trying to explain things I know very little about here.

I did it and it turned out ok, this is only the first coat tho and i used vinyl paint from Canadian tire (black) and silver paint from Canadian tire too but it wasnt for vinyl and it still worked good, what i would like to note tho is if you use a clear coat on the vinyl it WILL STICK LIKE A MOTHER.... this picture is the first coat we did, I didnt have time to finish it all in one day so i have to give it one more coat but it did turn out ok, excuse my dog, he spends more time in my car than I do,

But the paint is actually silver, its just the way the light is it looks white and the car is silver too, its in rough shape and I just started to work on it, ill get a better pic over the weekend and the name of the paint cuz it does work out good.

Sounds like to much work to think about painting the interior. However I do wish my interior was all one color like blace or beige, and not this two tone crap.

The vinyl paint is not sticky at all, not even when it sits in the sun all day, I did clear coat one of my door panels though and that turned out sticky, so i did not clear anything else, you just need more than one coat to make it shine (haven't gotten round to it yet tho)
