My son's ALERO will be park near campus next year and I think it would be a good idea to add a "kill switch" somewhere under the dash for theft protection. Something that will prevent the car from being started unless the switch is in the right position. Anyone out there done this before? Any suggestions?

why not just get a nice alarm system?

A good rocker/toggle switch is <$5 and is simple, effective and fool proof. A good auto security system is expensive and is usually a maintenance headache (horn going off for no apparent reason).

could also use whats called a "killswitch" just put it inline on the power to the ignition. no power, no start. and you could hide it just about anywhere....

(or your could go a step further and "mod" a little.... and move the ignition all together. violentrapture did that. pretty slick idea)

Find the fuel pump turn on wire and wire a switch into that.

On one of my freinds cars we wired a momentary push buttom switch in the wire going from the ignition switch to the starter, and hid it under the dash so he had to push and hold the botton well truning the key.
