I did it :thumb: :yahoo: :dancing:

I replaced my alternator. I just got done.

It took me about 1 1/2 hours. I had a bit of a problem with the tensioner, but I got it. I had to buy a new ratchet becuase the 2 I have and the one a borrowed were not long enough.

The belt did slip off the crank pulley, so I had to rip off the fender liner to get to it but it was easy after I got my hand up in there.

Anyway I paid $155 for a new one from Autozone, plus a $55 core.

The only problem it that the car is taking a bit longer to turn over, and the battery light did come on and the volts dropped below 12, but after I drove it it was fine. At idel with elecrtic fan override, a/c, radio, and headlights all on the volts were 12.7 or 12.8 (it was almost 13 on my gauge.

The a pillar gagues don't have jumpy needles now, it's just the starting thing now. It could be my mind playing tricks too.

The ground bolt is tight, and the connection is tight.

HA I also got it done just before the thunderstorm that is hitting now

Any thought on the starting thing, done the car have to get used to the alternator? :alcoholic:

your battery is still weak dude thats why its still starting sluggish. also turn your key to the "on" position and let the fuel pump prime itself for a second or two..... that helps starting also

but if the alternator was bad or the voltage reg was bad in it it could weaken the battery.

^^Oh, that makes more sense, is it possible that the battery will get recharged enough while driving, or should I get a charge.

I have one of thoughts Optima Red tops

And I'm pretty sure it was the voltage regulator

1 1/2 hours? It took me 15 minutes max. Hopefully it was good bonding tiime with the car though.

It was a learning experience, probably the first time he changed the belt so it took longer than someone who has done it more than one time.
