Daytona to compete in RP's "Motorsports Spectacular" (7/12)

Reposting this as it got lost after the site refresh.

I am competing in the PC Richards & Son "Motorsports Spectacular" at Raceway Park on Wednesday evening, July 12. Same deal as last time - running in a special eliminator (Street ET class) between the show car events.

Anyone coming down for the show should reply here before 2pm that day as I will be leaving my office then to head down for tech inspection.

As bad as the rains were in north Jersey, down in Monmouth County the sun and blue sky were peeking out. That is, until the 2 storm fronts rolled in just as we were about to race. By the time the last of the rain passed and we got everything redried, it was already past 7:30.

We did get to run but our 1st run was 1st round of eliminations. No time shots! :eek: Turned out there was now only enough time for each sportsman class to run 1 round before the Show and then we didn't race again the rest of the night, but my 1st run was memorable.

I ran against Chuch Render on an 8-car ladder. With the track being cold and wet, the 100% humidity, and no idea what our cars were going to run everyone's dials were a crapshoot. And everyone's actual ET's were .2-.3 slower than the slow times we dialed at, that's how bad the track and weather were. I got the head start in my pairing and immediately spun the tires. My car's slow enough that when I spin I do it before I break the timing beams so my RT and 60' both got trashed. Chuck and I both thought he edged past me at the finish line but I guess he did a worse job at guessing his ET than I did because I won.

Margin Of Victory = 0.0004 seconds (4/10,000th of a second)!!!

The 4 remaining cars in each class split prize money so I got $40 for my troubles, got to watch most of the Show, and hightailed it out before the mass exodus begans so I beat the traffic.
