99 aluminum control arms

Anyone know whyGM stopped using them after only one year?? FE2 and FE3 suspension'ed N-body cars have the aluminum control arms.... 2000 and later years have the same stamped steel ones that the J-body uses.... (but the other way around).

Any idea why? I suspect cost...

Now I want to swap a set into my Cavalier.... heh....
