At the beginning of Aug, i should have all of my parts that are laying around finally installed

I am just wondering if anyone would could give me an estimate of how much hp i should be gaining with everything done....

Here is my list of everything that will be installed:

aem shrot ram intake, converted to a cai
TPS-tech
RSM instake manifold
Pacesetter ceramic/armor coated header(s)
Borla cat-back exhaust
magnaflow HF cat converter
SS res pipe (im not 100% sure if this is it, but its the part that connects the headers to the cat converter... i dont think that its going to do anything)

Ive had different estimates from various people..... i'm asking everyone on the board basically because i trust all of you more than the people that I have asked before....

Thanks

its hard to say without you going to a dyno and doing a run stock then a run when you are all done. But if I had to guess you might get 20 to 25 HP gain, and that is just winging a number off the top of my head.

I am going to say 45

I'm going to guess 25-ish gain. put that stuff in and dyno it to let us know. :thumb: to getting the exhaust done the right way the first time!

25ish is probly right...should skipped the rsm intake manifold tho...isnt it almost stock and just has rsm stamped into it? shoulda done the 2.3HO swap...but those parts together will make a difference fer sure

personally, I wouldn't by anything from RSM. I mean, I already bought the front STB from them, but later realized that particular thing was pverpriced....and after more research, MOST of their other products are overpriced (not bashing quality though)

And it SAYS that their IM is ported out to 62mm. so it probably is an OEM part, just "ported" (read: dremeled)

yeah, thats what i figured..... im getting my TB ported to 62mm....

always remember. HP gains do not compound. deduct about 25% from reported gains per item when you're trying to tally up.

I am going to say 45

25 maybe 30, where in the hell did 45 come from?

LMAO..............25-45hp from a CAI. header, borla exhaust and HF cat..........lets see Realistic...........

the RSM intake manfold = No hp at all
tps/tec = No hp just quicker throttle response
CAI - 7-8hp
Borla - 7-8hp
header - 7-8 hp
cat - 1-2hp

but all together if you see 15-20hp gain you'll be about right on. but remember this will be around 4000rpm.

now if you get the 62mm tb..........is dumb. 56mm is best for N/A the 62mm will take too much low end away and only gain maybe 3hp on the top end.

like I said, he should just put it all together and dyno it. screw guessing.

Doing Dyno runs get expensive :o

hmmmm, maybe i should say screw getting the intake manifold put in

The intake makes sence if you are getting the matching throttle body.

so he could do it once...when he gets all the stuff installed.

i know i should just do the secret cam swap myself, but im clueless when it comes to that kinda stuff.....

any idea how much it would be to get it done by someone?

Oldsman
07-19-2006, 11:39 PM
if you are clueless then i suggest don't do it yourself.

i think a shop to do it it is like 6-7 hours @ whatever rate they charge.

for cams? holy fuck...me and my gm mech friend did both in 4 hours including beer breaks

Oldsman
07-20-2006, 11:34 PM
i believe in the manual in which they figure job costs and crap it is like a 6-7 hour job.

it can be done faster. mine took from jan to april but that also included top half of motor among other things

ptrudel

ya, but from jan to april you did LOTS more then just cams lol

i'm thinking of asking my next door neighbor who has been working with GM cars almost all of his life if he could help me sometime....

I have to search for both cams in a junkyard first before i start thinking of anything.....

how much hp is gained with this secret swap? isn't it like 10-15 or something like that?

Oldsman
07-22-2006, 03:48 AM
that is correct 10-15 hp with stock head. a mild p&p job with cams has dynoed 20-25 to the ground gain.

battistoni21
07-22-2006, 08:24 AM
mmm sounds tastey... i just might have to start looking for cams soon, and start understanding how to change them :)
